Technical Deployment Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a Field Deployment Manager to own the end-to-end deployment of physical technology across commercial buildings—from initial project scoping through installation, troubleshooting, and final go-live.

You will ensure that the right devices are installed in the right locations, gateways provide adequate coverage, and sensors are correctly configured and reporting reliable data.

This is a hands-on deployment and project management role, not a purely administrative coordination position. You will work directly with Sales, contractors, installers, client IT teams, facilities teams, and project managers to ensure deployments are executed successfully.

You will also be involved during the sales process, helping evaluate floor plans, determine hardware quantities and placement, and identify technical requirements before a project is closed.

What You’ll Do

Deployment Scoping

• Partner with Sales during the quoting stage to review floor plans and space requirements.
• Determine appropriate device and gateway quantities and placement.
• Identify technical requirements and potential deployment risks before a project is signed.

Deployment Preparation

• Take ownership of deployments once projects are handed over from Sales.
• Confirm data connectivity requirements, including cloud and Building Management System (BMS) integrations.
• Coordinate internal teams and client stakeholders to prepare the deployment environment.
• Ensure documentation, site access, technical requirements, and installation prerequisites are completed before installation day.
• Prepare installers and client IT teams for successful deployment.

Project & Logistics Management

• Own deployment timelines from handoff through go-live.
• Coordinate hardware logistics, shipping, installation schedules, and stakeholder availability.
• Track dependencies and proactively identify potential delays or roadblocks.
• Keep internal teams and customers informed of deployment progress.

Installation & Troubleshooting

• Oversee installation activities and verify device positioning and installation quality.

• Ensure devices and gateways are correctly installed, configured, connected, and reporting data.

• Troubleshoot live installation issues involving:

  • Firewalls
  • Port whitelisting
  • IP addressing
  • DHCP/DNS
  • Network connectivity
  • Cable patching
  • Power and device configuration

• Work directly with customer IT and network teams to resolve issues in real time.

• Escalate complex technical issues to Product or Engineering when necessary.

• Drive deployments through to successful completion rather than simply coordinating between teams.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Provide regular deployment updates to Sales and Customer Success teams.
• Coordinate with general contractors, low-voltage contractors, installers, facilities teams, IT administrators, and client-side consultants.
• Proactively identify and remove deployment roadblocks.
• Balance technical requirements, timelines, customer experience, and project costs when making decisions.

What You’ll Bring

Required Experience

• 3+ years of experience deploying or installing physical technology/hardware in occupied commercial buildings.

• Direct experience working on-site with one or more of the following:

  • Low-voltage contractors
  • Controls contractors
  • General contractors
  • Hardware installers
  • Client IT/network teams
  • Facilities teams

• Experience with physical technology deployments such as:

  • IoT devices
  • Network/telecom infrastructure
  • AV systems
  • Security systems
  • Low-voltage systems
  • Building automation or controls

• Purely software or SaaS project management experience will not be considered sufficient for this role.

• Strong understanding of commercial building deployment workflows and stakeholder responsibilities.

• Ability to read and interpret floor plans and construction drawings and translate them into accurate hardware layouts.

• Hands-on ability to troubleshoot technical issues during live installations.

• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including firewalls, port whitelisting, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and cabling.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and building integrations.

• Familiarity with WELL, RESET, or LEED standards.

• Experience deploying smart-building or IoT solutions, including:

  • Indoor air quality monitoring
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Occupancy tracking
  • Energy monitoring/metering

• Experience supporting international or global deployments.

• Additional language skills are a plus.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
• Equivalent hands-on field experience will also be considered.
