Technical Designer

About the role

To translate structural concepts into precise 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings, and generate the required machine programs (CAM/G-code) to operate automated factory equipment, specifically CNC routers and CNC laser cutters.

Key responsibilities

• Draft 3D models and precise 2D fabrication drawings for metal structures and machined plastics using SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Inventor.
• Generate and optimize CAM toolpaths and nesting layouts for CNC routers (HDPE/HPL panels) and CNC laser cutters (sheet metal) to maximize material yield.
• Calculate accurate flat patterns and bend deductions for sheet metal forming and mandrel tube bending.
• Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) specifying the correct material grades and quantities to facilitate seamless procurement and execution during fabrication.
• Coordinate with the shop floor to ensure smooth fabrication processes through the accurate execution of technical drawings.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• High proficiency in 3D parametric modeling (SolidWorks/Inventor) and 2D CAD.
• Hands-on experience with CAM software, specifically for CNC routing and metal laser cutting operations.
• Working 2 years knowledge of structural metal fabrication, pipe bending, & sheet metal folding, or a related field.
• Ability to read architectural site layouts and ensure design compliance with strict safety and entrapment standards.
