Technical Drawing Educator

Job Summary

The Technical Drawing Educator is responsible for teaching students the principles and techniques of technical drawing, engineering graphics, and design representation. The ideal candidate will develop students' technical drawing skills, spatial awareness, accuracy, and ability to interpret and produce technical drawings in line with the approved curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Technical Drawing lessons in line with the approved curriculum.
• Teach fundamental drawing techniques, including geometric construction, orthographic projection, isometric drawing, sectional views, and pictorial representation.
• Instruct students on the use of drawing instruments, scales, dimensioning, symbols, and technical drawing standards.
• Teach students how to interpret and produce engineering and architectural drawings.
• Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, practical exercises, and assessment tools.
• Demonstrate appropriate techniques for using drawing boards, set squares, compasses, protractors, and other drawing instruments.
• Introduce students to computer-aided design (CAD) software where applicable.
• Supervise practical drawing exercises and projects, ensuring accuracy, neatness, and adherence to technical standards.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including WAEC and NECO, where applicable.
• Assess students' drawings, assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback to improve performance.
• Monitor students' progress and provide additional support where necessary.
• Maintain and manage drawing instruments, equipment, and other instructional resources.
• Enforce classroom and workshop safety procedures and ensure proper use of equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, attendance, assessments, and students' academic progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues and school administrators to improve teaching effectiveness and student performance.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school activities, and professional development programmes.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Education, Technical Drawing, Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• Teaching qualification or TRCN certification is an added advantage or required in accordance with the school's policy.
• Minimum of 2–3 years' relevant teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of technical drawing principles, engineering graphics, and geometric construction.
• Familiarity with technical drawing instruments, standards, and computer-aided design (CAD) software is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret and teach orthographic projections, isometric drawings, sectional views, and dimensioning.
• Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and supervise practical exercises effectively.
