Technical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Engineer to join our team at CHINA COMMUNICATIONS CONSTRUCTION COMPANY (M) SDN. BHD. Based in Kuching, Sarawak, this is a full-time position that plays a vital role in our mechanical engineering operations. As a Technical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support across our projects, ensuring that all mechanical systems and components are designed, implemented and maintained to the highest standards. This role is instrumental in delivering quality engineering solutions that support our company's commitment to excellence in construction and infrastructure development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components using industry-standard CAD software and engineering principles
• Conduct technical analysis, calculations and simulations to ensure all designs meet project specifications and safety requirements
• Prepare detailed technical drawings, specifications and documentation for construction and manufacturing purposes
• Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors and other engineering teams to ensure seamless project implementation
• Perform site inspections and quality control assessments to verify that mechanical installations comply with design standards and regulatory requirements
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide innovative solutions to engineering challenges
• Maintain accurate records of technical specifications, test results and project documentation
• Support the development of project proposals and technical documentation for tender submissions
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards and regulations

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineering qualification or registration (PE/PEng) is highly desirable
• Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) and engineering analysis tools
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
• Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and building codes applicable to Malaysia
• Excellent problem-solving skills and technical aptitude
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in multicultural project environments
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Mandarin or Malay is advantageous
