Role Description

For a local company SEMC Labor is recruiting Technical Engineers. This role is a full-time, on-site position based in Suriname. In this role, the Technical Engineer will perform daily technical diagnostics, maintenance, and repair activities on equipment and systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Responsibilities include troubleshooting technical issues, supporting installation and commissioning of new machinery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan and execute technical projects. The Technical Engineer will document work performed, maintain technical records, and propose improvements to processes and equipment performance. The role also involves adhering to safety standards, participating in inspections, and providing technical support to colleagues and clients as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge in engineering disciplines relevant to industrial, mechanical, or electrical systems, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair in an operational or industrial environment.
• Proficiency in using relevant tools, instruments, and software for technical analysis, reporting, and documentation.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices in technical operations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
• Relevant technical or engineering education (e.g., vocational technical diploma, associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field).
• Previous experience in similar technical roles; experience within Suriname’s industrial or project-based sectors is an advantage.
• Ability to work on-site in Paramaribo, Brokopondo and Sipaliwini, adapt to changing priorities, and handle both independent and team-based tasks.

Functieomschrijving

Voor een lokaal bedrijf werft SEMC Labor een Technical Engineer . In deze fulltime functie bent u verantwoordelijk voor het uitvoeren van technische diagnoses, onderhoud en reparaties aan apparatuur en systemen. Daarnaast ondersteunt u installaties, lost u storingen op, houdt u technische documentatie bij en draagt u bij aan verbeteringen van processen en prestaties. U werkt volgens veiligheidsnormen en ondersteunt collega’s en klanten waar nodig.

Kwalificaties

• Technische opleiding in werktuigbouwkunde, elektrotechniek of een vergelijkbare richting.
• Ervaring met onderhoud, diagnose, storingsanalyse en reparaties van apparatuur.
• Vaardig in het lezen van technische tekeningen en documentatie.
• Kennis van veiligheids- en kwaliteitsnormen.
• Goede communicatieve en samenwerkingsvaardigheden.
• Sterk probleemoplossend vermogen en oog voor detail.
• Ervaring in een vergelijkbare technische functie is een pré.
• Bereidheid om op locatie te werken in Paramaribo, Brokopondo en Sipaliwini.
• Zelfstandig kunnen werken én goed functioneren in teamverband.
