About the role
As a Technical Handyman at JLL, you'll be the hands-on problem solver who keeps our clients' facilities running smoothly and efficiently. This role puts you at the heart of day-to-day building operations, where you'll tackle a diverse range of maintenance and repair tasks across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems. You'll respond to service requests, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure that every space meets the high standards our clients expect. This position requires someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, communicates effectively with building occupants and team members, and approaches each challenge with a solution-focused mindset. You'll work both independently and as part of a collaborative facilities team, contributing to a culture where everyone is empowered to deliver exceptional results.
Key responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall repair, door hardware adjustments, and minor furniture assembly
- Conduct routine inspections of building systems and equipment to identify potential issues before they become major problems
- Respond promptly to work orders and service requests from building occupants, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication throughout the process
- Assist with basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, replacing fixtures, and maintaining restroom facilities
- Handle electrical tasks including lamp replacements, ballast changes, outlet repairs, and troubleshooting minor electrical issues
- Support HVAC operations by changing filters, cleaning vents, and performing basic system checks under supervision
- Maintain accurate records of completed work orders, materials used, and time spent on each task using facility management software
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and organized, following proper safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and contractors to complete larger projects and coordinate building improvements
About you
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or a related handyman role
- Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve common building maintenance issues
- Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with building occupants at all levels
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work from ladders and scaffolding, and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Preferred: Technical certification or vocational training in a relevant trade (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or facilities maintenance)
- Preferred: Experience working in commercial office buildings, industrial facilities, or property management environments
