Technical Illustrator

Key Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality technical illustrations, exploded views, cutaways, component identification graphics, and service procedure illustrations for passenger and commercial vehicles.
• Interpret 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, engineering change notices (ECNs), and vehicle specifications to generate publication-ready visual content.
• Create illustrations for:
• Owner's Manuals
• Service Bulletins
• Collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Service Engineering, Aftermarket Teams, Technical Authors, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
• Ensure technical accuracy of illustrations through validation against engineering data and vehicle specifications.
• Support new vehicle launches by developing illustration packages within project timelines.
• Update illustrations based on engineering design changes, feature updates, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain illustration libraries, templates, symbols, and reusable graphical assets.
• Follow customer-specific illustration standards, publication guidelines, and brand requirements.
• Participate in quality reviews to ensure consistency, completeness, and compliance with documentation standards.
• Meet project delivery schedules while maintaining high levels of quality and productivity.

Required Technical Skills

Automotive Knowledge

• Strong understanding of:
• Vehicle systems and subsystems
• Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
• EV and Hybrid vehicle technologies (preferred)

Illustration & Authoring Tools

• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop

CAD & Engineering Tools

• CATIA
• Creo
• Teamcenter

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting global automotive OEMs such as Ford, Stellantis, GM, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or similar.
• Knowledge of automotive service documentation standards.
• Experience creating illustrations from CAD models and engineering databases.
• Familiarity with vehicle service and diagnostic procedures.
• Understanding of automotive electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
