Technical Interior Designer (AutoCAD Drafting, Kitchen and Bath)

About the Role
We are a small technical design studio that partners with interior designers and design-build firms. Our contract team produces space plans, construction documents, design drawings, and 3D renderings. We are adding a drafting-focused designer who can start producing residential and commercial construction documents and furniture plans in AutoCAD right away.

This is a strong fit if you studied interior design but want to spend your time on the technical side. You work independently, take direction well, and like supporting designers and builders across a range of drafting needs.

This is a freelance contract role, not a nights-and-weekends position. You will need to be reachable during business hours from time to time.

What You Will Do

• Produce floor plans, elevations, and construction documents for residential and commercial interiors in AutoCAD (AutoCAD LT works)
• Space plan and develop layouts, mainly for kitchens, baths, and laundry rooms
• Build and edit basic models in SketchUp as needed
• Join occasional check-ins with our team during business hours by Slack, Google Meet, or phone
• Support a mix of residential and commercial design projects

Requirements

• Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
• 4+ years of interiors drafting experience, residential and commercial
• Strong AutoCAD skills (LT is fine), with your own active subscription
• Hands-on kitchen and bath design experience
• Working knowledge of SketchUp
• Based in the U.S.
• Availability for occasional calls during business hours
• Close attention to detail and the ability to follow design direction
• Clear communication and dependable follow-through as a remote contractor

Nice to Have

• 3D modeling and rendering
• Photoshop skills for colorizing elevations and floor plans

Details

• Expected workload: 5 to 15 hours per week at the start, with room to grow quickly
• Flexible schedule, but meeting availability during business hours is essential

Portfolio Requirement
We only review applicants whose portfolio shows AutoCAD drafting work, including at least one kitchen and one bath. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 35.0 per week
