Technical Laboratory Lead

Purpose

The Technical Laboratory Lead has overall responsibility for planning, leading and following

up the laboratory's operations within WiJo Pouches NA. Analyses and tests must be

performed correctly, safely and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations and

customer requirements. The role ensures that the laboratory contributes to the company's

quality goals, product safety and meets requirements from ISO22000, Hazard Analysis

Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and authorities such

as FDA.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and distribute the work in the laboratory.
• Ensure that work in the laboratory is carried out in accordance with GMP.
• Ensure that instruments and analysis results meet applicable quality requirements.
• Assures that the laboratory's operations are compliant towards ISO/IEC 17025 and the

company's quality/food safety management system.

• Be responsible for internal and external calibration, maintenance and validation of

laboratory equipment.

• Follow procedures/SOPs for analyses, sampling and documentation.
• Coordinate and support the transfer of analytical methods into the laboratory, including

method implementation, documentation, training and verification of readiness for routine

use.

• Participate in analytical method validation and verification activities, as applicable, in

cooperation with the responsible method developer and QA/RA.

• Identify laboratory needs, and coordinate purchase requests for consumables, reagents,

standards and other routine laboratory supplies in accordance with approved budgets

and purchasing procedures.

• Define user requirements and participate in the evaluation, selection, qualification and

procurement of laboratory equipment in cooperation with relevant functions.

• Verify chemical analyses of ingredients, intermediates and finished products.

Identify, investigate and report deviations and participate in continuous improvement work.

Participate in internal audits and follow up on corrective actions.

• Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessment linked to chemical handling & HACCP.
• Report problems related to the food safety management system to the food safety group

and responsible method developer

Authorities

• Decide on the prioritization of analytical work within the laboratory.
• Stop ongoing work or production batches in case of quality deviations.
• Initiate corrective and preventive actions.
• Approve laboratory-related results reports.
• Initiate purchase requests for laboratory consumables and equipment based on

documented operational needs.

• Approve routine laboratory purchases within the delegated budget and authorization

limits, where applicable.

• Recommend the selection of laboratory equipment and suppliers based on technical,

quality and compliance requirements.

Competence Requirements

• Either relevant chemistry education, or at least 3 years of experience in laboratory work

with HPLC. Experience in quality work in either the Food or Pharmaceutical industry.

• Good knowledge of ISO 9001/22000, HACCP, chemical analysis, GMP and hygiene

requirements.
