Technical Lead - Application Platform

We're working with a rapidly growing software company at the intersection of cloud technology, scientific research, and AI.

Their platform is used by scientists, research organizations, and technology partners to build and deploy applications that accelerate research, discovery, and data-driven innovation. As adoption continues to grow, they're investing heavily in the underlying platform that enables those applications to be built, deployed, secured, and operated at scale.

They're seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to own the evolution of a business-critical application platform used by internal teams, external partners, and customers.

This is an individual contributor leadership role. You'll remain deeply involved in architecture and software engineering while acting as the senior technical voice for a team responsible for the platform's long-term direction, reliability, security, and developer experience.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Owning the architecture of a shared application platform used by multiple engineering teams and external developers
• Designing and evolving the runtime, deployment, routing, identity, and authorization layers that power customer-facing applications
• Building secure multi-tenant systems that safely support applications developed by different teams and organizations
• Driving platform reliability, observability, incident response, and operational excellence
• Improving developer experience through SDKs, tooling, APIs, templates, documentation, and automation
• Leading technical planning, architecture reviews, and platform strategy while remaining highly hands-on

Ideal candidates will bring:

• Experience serving as the technical lead, architect, or principal engineer for a platform used by other engineering teams
• Strong cloud-native engineering experience with containerized environments
• Expertise in multi-tenant architecture, authorization, identity, and security boundaries
• A track record of balancing long-term architecture with the practical realities of operating production systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction without direct management responsibility
