Help us with our transformation challenge

GOSH is our health, safety and wellbeing platform that has more than 30,000 users, including government and education and health care clients who rely on it daily.

We’ve outgrown our current platform and are moving to .NET, Razor Pages and Azure SQL, without disrupting clients who meet regulatory obligations through our software. Alongside that we're building AI tooling, including automated JSA generation, that has to be reliable enough for people make decisions about their workplace health and safety.

That's the job. A real engineering problem, at a scale where the decisions matter.

About us

Working Wise is a health, safety and wellbeing consultancy and technology company in Wellington. Twenty-five years in, working across health, education, NGO and government, and an All-of-Government approved provider.

We're about ten people — small enough that you'll see the immediate outcome of what you build, and your technical judgement won't get diluted through layers of management.

What you'll do

Build (60–70%) — C#, .NET, Razor Pages and Azure SQL on the new platform. Maintain and extend the Zoho-based GOSH through the transition (Deluge — you'll pick it up, nobody arrives knowing it). Client integrations, LLM integration on the AI tooling, and troubleshooting across the stack.

Lead (30–40%) — Own the development roadmap and the architectural calls the migration brings. Mentor an IT Technical Specialist, an IT Developer and interns. Scope requirements directly with clients. Introduce enough process to work well at this size — Agile that suits a team of four, not forty.

You'll work with our fractional  Chief Technical Officer and Chief Product Officer, along with the Managing Director.

What we're looking for

A developer who moved into leadership without losing interest in the code.

• Solid commercial experience — roughly 5 years or more; what you've shipped matters more than the number.
• Strong C# / .NET and comfortable across a full stack
• Cloud experience — Azure ideally, AWS or GCP is fine, the concepts transfer
• Some exposure to AI/LLM integration, or genuine appetite to go deep on it
• You've mentored developers, formally or not, and can talk to a client about a technical problem without losing them
