What they need

Technical Lead Electrician – Generators & Power Systems

Melbourne Generators is experiencing rapid growth, and we're looking for an experienced A-Grade Electrician with strong, hands-on generator experience to join our team and play a key technical role in the next stage of our business.

This is not your standard electrical maintenance role.

You'll work across an exciting mix of large-scale generators, synchronised power systems, major events and concerts, essential infrastructure, industrial shutdowns, temporary power, permanent standby systems and emerging BESS technology.

We're looking for someone who knows generators, enjoys solving technical problems and wants the opportunity to take real ownership.

The Role

As our Technical Lead Electrician, you'll become one of the go-to technical people within Melbourne Generators.

Your work will include:

  • Generator electrical fault finding and diagnostics
  • Generator connections and disconnections
  • Testing and commissioning generator systems
  • Synchronising generators and setting up load-sharing systems
  • Programming, configuring and fault finding generator controllers
  • Working with ComAp controllers and remote monitoring
  • AMF and automatic transfer systems
  • Large-scale temporary electrical distribution
  • Major event and concert installations
  • Industrial shutdowns and essential infrastructure projects
  • Permanent standby generator installations
  • Load-bank testing and commissioning
  • BESS and hybrid power systems
  • Technical standby and emergency response
  • Developing and improving preventative maintenance programs
  • Investigating recurring faults and identifying root causes
  • Improving fleet reliability and readiness
  • Working directly with clients to solve technical challenges
  • Supporting and mentoring other team members
  • Helping develop our technical procedures, standards and systems

Who We're Looking For

Generator experience is essential.

You must be a qualified A-Grade Electrician with a current Victorian electrical licence and have proven hands-on experience working with diesel generators and power-generation systems.

Experience with generator synchronising, load sharing, controller configuration, commissioning and complex fault finding will be highly regarded.

ComAp experience is preferred, although we also want to hear from experienced generator electricians who have worked extensively with other generator control platforms.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Technically strong and confident fault finding
  • Organised and reliable
  • Safety focused
  • A clear communicator
  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willing to share their knowledge
  • Interested in technology and improving systems
  • Focused on preventative maintenance rather than simply reacting to breakdowns

Why Join Melbourne Generators?

You're joining us during a period of rapid growth.

Our fleet is expanding, our projects are getting larger and we're continuing to develop our capabilities across temporary power, synchronised systems, permanent standby generation and BESS.

We want someone who can bring their experience into the business and help shape how our technical operation develops as we grow.

We offer:

  • $130,000–$170,000 + super
  • Company vehicle
  • Laptop and required technology
  • Salary negotiable based on experience
  • Varied and technically challenging work
  • Major event and concert projects
  • Large-scale generator and synchronised power systems
  • Essential infrastructure and industrial projects
  • Exposure to BESS and emerging power technologies
  • Genuine technical responsibility and ownership
  • Long-term career progression as the company expands

If you're an experienced generator electrician looking for something more than another electrical job, this is an opportunity to bring your knowledge into a growing business and make a real impact.

For the right person, the sky is the limit.
