About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Engineering & Delivery with 7+ years of software engineering experience and strong hands-on expertise in Next.js, TypeScript, and Python.

This role requires a highly capable technical professional who can drive engineering decisions, lead solution design, establish development standards, and take ownership of end-to-end software delivery. The ideal candidate will have the technical depth to solve complex engineering challenges independently while ensuring projects are planned, prioritised, and delivered efficiently.

Beyond technical leadership, this position offers an opportunity to take on broader project management responsibilities, including delivery planning, stakeholder coordination, and execution management, while remaining closely involved in technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering execution, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Design, develop, and optimise scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications using Next.js, TypeScript, and Python.
• Drive technical architecture and design decisions, evaluating solutions based on performance, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications, implementation plans, task breakdowns, and delivery milestones.
• Establish and enforce engineering standards, ensuring high-quality code, effective testing practices, and appropriate technical documentation.
• Conduct code reviews, identify architectural and implementation issues, and provide technical direction to developers.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges, troubleshoot critical issues, and drive effective resolutions.
• Leverage AI coding assistants and agents to improve development speed, debugging, testing, and documentation while validating the quality and reliability of generated outputs.
• Oversee development progress, testing, bug resolution, CI/CD processes, deployments, and production issue management.
• Manage technical dependencies, development priorities, resource allocation, and delivery risks to keep projects on track.
• Track project progress against agreed milestones, communicate risks and blockers, and provide clear delivery updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with business and technical stakeholders to align engineering priorities with business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, engineering productivity, and delivery processes.
• Take ownership of project planning, task prioritisation, timeline management, and end-to-end delivery accountability.
• Gradually expand into broader project management responsibilities while maintaining technical oversight and ensuring successful delivery outcomes.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience , with a strong track record of delivering production-grade software applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Next.js, TypeScript, and Python , with the ability to independently design, build, debug, and optimise complex applications.
• Proven experience in software architecture, system design, technical decision-making, and engineering best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical direction and lead projects from requirements through production delivery.
• Strong understanding of API design, databases, system integrations, application security, scalability, and performance optimisation.
• Experience leading technical initiatives, conducting code reviews, establishing engineering standards, and guiding other developers.
• Solid understanding of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, deployment strategies, and production support.
• Practical experience using AI-powered development tools and agents to improve engineering productivity, with the ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated code.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, estimate development effort, identify dependencies, and develop realistic delivery plans.
• Experience managing development priorities, project timelines, technical risks, and delivery dependencies.
• Familiarity with project management and issue-tracking tools such as GitHub Issues, Linear, or Jira.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• A high degree of ownership, accountability, and independence in a fast-paced working environment.
• Interest in expanding into project management, delivery leadership, and broader execution responsibilities.
