About Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Python Backend Developer to lead backend development, drive technical excellence, and work closely with international stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong professional who enjoys hands-on development, team leadership, and direct client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable and reliable backend applications using Python.
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Translate business and technical requirements into effective solutions.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and coordinate development activities.
• Communicate directly with clients, manage technical discussions, and provide project updates.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain high standards for code quality, security, testing, and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Identify technical challenges and implement effective solutions independently.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Python backend development experience.
• Proven experience in a senior or technical leadership role, with prior team-leading experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend development practices.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and RESTful API development.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, database design, and query optimisation.
• Experience with Docker and containerised application development.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence in handling client calls independently.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver high-quality solutions.

Additional experience with Django, Node.js, Wagtail, Valkey, OpenSearch, DocumentDB, or Firebase will be an advantage.
