What they need

Technical Maintenance Manager

  • 120,000 Per Year + Super
  • Melbourne
  • Trades & Services

Woods & Co Recruitment has partnered with an innovative and growing events technology business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality photo booth experiences across Australia. Due to continued growth, they're looking for a hands-on and technically minded Technical Maintenance Manager to lead and support their technical team.

This is a full-time opportunity suited to someone who enjoys leading people, solving technical problems and taking ownership when things go wrong. You'll be responsible for managing the technical team, coordinating rosters, troubleshooting equipment and technology issues, and ensuring the team is well prepared to support events across Australia.

Based primarily from the business's Fairfield location, this role will suit someone who is confident managing a team while still being comfortable getting hands-on and working through technical issues themselves.

What's in it for you?

  • $110,000–$120,000 + super, depending on experience
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Lead and develop an established technical team
  • Hands-on role combining people management, technical troubleshooting and operations
  • Primarily based from the Fairfield office
  • Occasional interstate travel for training and technical support
  • Work within a growing and innovative events technology business
  • Opportunity to take ownership of the technical function and make a real impact
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • Time off in February following the busy Christmas/event period
  • Long-term opportunity to grow with the business

What you'll be doing

  • Managing, supporting and developing the technical maintenance team
  • Creating and managing team rosters to ensure adequate event and operational coverage
  • Delegating technical tasks and managing daily priorities across the team
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical and equipment issues as they arise
  • Coordinating the team's response to technical problems during events
  • Providing hands-on technical support and getting involved in troubleshooting when required
  • Assessing technical issues and determining the most practical and effective solution
  • Escalating significant or complex issues to senior management when required
  • Training and developing technical team members
  • Supporting staff with technical problem-solving and day-to-day challenges
  • Identifying recurring technical issues and implementing longer-term solutions
  • Supporting interstate events, training and technical requirements when required
  • Maintaining a high standard of technical operations across the business

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience managing or leading a technical, maintenance, field service, operations or similar team
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills
  • Solid technical or technology background
  • Practical, hands-on approach to troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to confidently diagnose problems and work through solutions independently
  • Someone who takes ownership rather than immediately escalating problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and event-driven environment
  • Ability to train, support and get the best out of technical team members
  • Strong cultural fit with a growing, entrepreneurial business
  • Comfortable supporting event bump-in and bump-out activities when required
  • Flexible and available to work through the majority of the Christmas period, excluding Christmas Day and public holidays
  • Current driver's licence
  • Reliable, proactive and solutions-focused
