Job Summary

Desert Man Transporting & Contracting LLC (DMTC) is seeking an experienced and technically strong Technical Manager to lead and oversee technical and engineering activities across the company's construction and infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical teams, ensuring compliance with project specifications and approved drawings, coordinating with clients and consultants, resolving engineering challenges, and supporting project execution in accordance with quality, safety, budget and schedule requirements.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction or infrastructure contracting, strong leadership capabilities, excellent technical problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical and engineering functions across assigned construction and infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to senior engineers, site engineers and technical personnel.
• Review and approve technical documents, engineering drawings, specifications, method statements and material submittals within delegated authority.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project management teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, contract requirements, quality standards and applicable UAE regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of technical proposals, shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), method statements and other engineering documents.
• Monitor technical deliverables, approval schedules and engineering progress to ensure alignment with project milestones.
• Identify design conflicts, technical risks and construction challenges, and implement practical engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with planning, procurement, QA/QC, HSE and site operations teams to support project delivery.
• Review technical changes and assess their potential impact on project cost, quality, resources and completion schedules.
• Establish and implement technical procedures, documentation standards and engineering workflows.
• Monitor compliance with quality assurance and quality control requirements and ensure timely closure of technical non-conformities.
• Support tendering and estimation teams by reviewing technical requirements, specifications, scope of work and project documentation.
• Manage technical resources and allocate engineering responsibilities according to project priorities.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, promoting technical competency, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Prepare technical performance reports and provide regular updates to senior management on engineering progress, risks and outstanding issues.
• Ensure proper control of engineering documents, drawing revisions, technical approvals and project records.
• Perform other technical management duties assigned by senior management.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Master's degree or professional engineering certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in construction, infrastructure or contracting, including substantial experience in technical or engineering management.
• Proven experience managing technical teams and coordinating engineering activities across construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction methodologies and contract requirements.
• Experience dealing with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
• Knowledge of QA/QC systems, technical submissions, method statements, RFIs and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with applicable UAE construction standards, authority requirements and HSE regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software, such as AutoCAD and project documentation systems.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
• UAE driving licence is preferred.
