Technical Manager

Job Description

The Role: We are looking for a proactive, well organised Technical Manager to join our small, friendly team.

You will be responsible for supporting the preservation (damp and timber) and structural waterproofing sectors of the Association, delivering training, technical support and audits, and developing technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

● Develop and deliver training courses across the relevant sectors.

● Review and update training materials and practical exercises.

● Provide technical advice and support to members and stakeholders.

● Maintain oversight of relevant codes, standards, and regulatory developments.

● Draft technical guidance and consultation responses.

● Represent the Association at industry meetings and events.

● Manage technical complaints within your areas of expertise.

● Undertake member technical audits and assist with new member applications.

● Support the development and launch of other projects and activities.

● Draft articles, blogs, and press releases relating to areas of work.

● Develop good working relationships with stakeholders.

● Keep your technical skills up to date.

● Substitute for other Technical Managers in their absence.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

● CSTDB (or CSRT) qualification, or equivalent experience

● Technical background in the damp and timber sector

● Experience delivering training activities

● Experience delivering projects from conception to completion

● Experience managing competing priorities

● Ability to communicate technically at all levels

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Strong time management and organisational skills

● Excellent attention to detail

Desirable:

● CSSW qualification

● CSDV qualification

● Membership of a relevant professional body (i.e. CABE/RICS)

● Experience working within a not-for-profit organisation

● Knowledge of project lifecycle and continuous improvement

● Knowledge of best practice processes and procedures

● Microsoft Office skills

Location & Travel

The role is based either at the Association's head office in Huntingdon or remotely, with regular UK-wide travel required for training, audits and Association events. Typically, travel will be around two to three days per week, including one day a week in Huntingdon.
