What they need

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Materials Specialist to provide dedicated technical material support across gas turbine overhaul and repair projects, helping ensure critical materials, parts, repairs, and sourcing challenges are understood, managed, and resolved.

This role sits at the centre of project delivery, working closely with Production, Engineering, Project Delivery, Procurement, repair vendors, suppliers, and our Material Logistics Coordinator in Canada. You will investigate material holds, interpret technical documentation, identify alternative solutions, and drive issues through to resolution before they impact production or customer commitments.

This is not a traditional purchasing or logistics role. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, digging into details, asking the right questions, and taking ownership of project-critical material issues in a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and coordinate critical domestic and international material shipments
  • Manage international freight movements between Canada and New Zealand
  • Liaise directly with freight brokers, suppliers, customs and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and continuously improve inventory control tools
  • Identify and resolve material-related production holds in collaboration with Production
  • Coordinate kitting and material readiness for planned work scopes
  • Track parts sent for repair or in transit and provide clear, regular status updates
  • Participate in weekly production meetings and provide material status reporting
  • Identify long-term material or supply chain risks and assist with mitigation strategies
  • Perform system transactions and reporting using Xero, Excel, and Microsoft 365

About You

You have a practical technical mindset and enjoy solving problems by working through details and finding solutions. You are comfortable interpreting technical documentation, investigating material requirements and alternative part options, and providing clear, reliable updates on critical material issues. You take ownership, communicate well with a range of stakeholders, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where your work directly supports project and production outcomes.

You’ll need:

  • Experience in technical, engineering, planning, materials, supply chain, or production support roles within an industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, energy, or overhaul and repair environment
  • Ability to read and interpret parts books, technical documentation, bills of material, part-number structures, and project records
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate alternative parts, repair options, supplier availability, and recovery plans
  • Experience working with production, engineering, procurement, suppliers, or repair vendors to resolve material or technical constraints
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, structured updates
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to take ownership, prioritise effectively, and drive issues through to resolution
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Excel, and project or inventory tracking systems

Desirable:

  • Gas turbine, LM2500, aero-derivative engine, or rotating equipment experience
  • Experience coordinating repairs, component tracking, or technical procurement activities
  • Familiarity with inventory control, kitting, material readiness, and production planning
  • Experience working with international suppliers or across multiple time zones
  • Exposure to Xero, ERP systems, SharePoint, Planner, or similar business systems

This role works in partnership with our Materials & Logistics Coordinator based in Canada.

About Rotation Group

Rotation Group provide gas turbine overhaul, repair and field services across New Zealand, Australia and Canada. We support operators of some of the world's most critical power generation and industrial assets.

The best time to join a company is just before everyone else realises they should have. The AI boom has turned electricity into the defining constraint of the digital economy, and the aeroderivative gas turbine — led by GE’s LM2500 — has become the engine of choice for fast, reliable power. Demand is running years ahead of what the industry can build, and every engine in service needs a specialist to keep it running.

We’ve spent years building for exactly this moment: three specialised sites, a purpose-built overhaul depot, a technical centre of excellence, and a team drawn from the world’s leading OEMs and operators. Now we’re scaling — and growing our team to match the opportunity ahead. The seats we’re filling now will define the company for the next decade.

At Rotation, we take responsibility, aim for excellence, and win as a team. We value people who bring initiative, accountability, and pride to their work.
