Technical Office Engineer — Structural Shop Drawings

Job Purpose

Produce accurate, approved structural shop drawings and reinforcement details in ASD for Grow Constructions' residential, commercial, and administrative projects, so that site teams always build from clear, approved, clash-free drawings on time.

2. Key Responsibilities

Structural Shop Drawings (Core)

• Prepare structural shop drawings from IFC drawings in ASD: foundations, rafts, columns, cores and shear walls, beams, slabs, staircases, and retaining walls.
• Prepare detailed reinforcement drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) in ASD, and optimize cutting lengths to reduce steel waste.
• Submit shop drawings to the consultant, incorporate comments, and secure approvals on time.
• Manage revisions, the drawing register, and submittal logs under strict revision control.

Coordination & Site Support

• Coordinate structural drawings with architectural and MEP drawings (openings, sleeves, shafts, levels) and resolve clashes before issue to site.
• Raise RFIs for design gaps or conflicts and follow them through to closure.
• Support site engineers with technical clarifications during execution.
• Prepare as-built structural drawings at project close-out.

Quantity Surveying (Plus)

• Prepare concrete and reinforcement quantity take-offs from approved shop drawings.
• Support preparation of client and subcontractor invoices against measured progress.

3. Key Performance Indicators

• Shop-drawing and BBS delivery vs. site need dates
• First-submission approval rate with the consultant
• Rebar waste vs. target (cutting optimization)
• Clashes resolved before issue to site (no rework due to drawing errors)
• Drawing register / revision-control accuracy

4. Qualifications & Experience

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering; Engineers Syndicate membership.
• 3–5 years of technical office experience on building projects, preferably with a contractor.
• Proven, current hands-on experience preparing structural shop drawings and BBS in ASD (mandatory). Be ready to share samples of your drawings.
• Quantity surveying and invoicing experience is a plus.
• Good English for technical correspondence.

• ASD (AutoCAD Structural Detailing) : expert, current daily use (required)
• AutoCAD : expert (required)
• Revit Structure is a plus; ArmaCAD and cutting-optimization software are a plus
• MS Excel for BBS, quantities, and logs
