Technical Officer

About the role

The Junior Technical Officer supports the Technical Services team in project documentation, basic technical assistance, site visit preparation, mock-up support, training logistics and field reporting. The role is designed as a developing technical position. The incumbent assists Technical Officers and the Technical Lead while building product, application, site and documentation capability. The Junior Technical Officer does not independently approve complex recommendations, issue non-standard technical commitments or handle high-risk troubleshooting without supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Technical Officers in preparing basic product information, technical references, application guidance, submittal support and customer response materials
• Respond to routine internal technical requests within approved guidance and escalate questions beyond current authority or knowledge
• Support project and customer follow-ups by gathering missing information, photos, documents and next-action updates
• Assist in site visits, inspections, product trials, mock-ups and demonstrations by preparing tools, materials, checklists and documentation templates
• Observe site conditions, take photos, record basic measurements, capture application details and assist in organizing evidence for the Technical Officer
• Prepare draft visit reports, training records, attendance sheets, photo logs, mock-up notes, issue trackers and basic project documentation for review
• Maintain organized files for technical requests, site photos, reports, samples, demonstrations, trainings and customer interactions
• Assist in preparing training materials, product samples, sample boards, demo kits, brochures, equipment and presentation support
• Develop technical knowledge of Saint-Gobain products, applications, systems, standards, limitations, site practices and customer segments
• Escalate all complex, high-risk, unclear, complaint-related or unusual technical matters promptly

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Industrial Technology or related construction/technical discipline
• Fresh graduates may be considered where technical aptitude, communication skills and learning agility are demonstrated
• Preferably zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in construction materials, site support, QA/QC, technical documentation, project coordination or related technical work
• Exposure to construction chemicals, drywall systems, waterproofing, tile fixing, repair works or site application activities is an advantage
• Willingness to conduct field work, site visits, trainings, mock-up support and hands-on technical learning
• Strong learning agility, curiosity and willingness to develop technical and field capability
• Good organization, documentation, photo reporting, tracker updating and follow-through on assigned tasks
• Attention to detail in recording site observations, project information, samples, reports and action items
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, basic reporting, email, presentations and digital documentation tools
