Technical Officer

Contract: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)
IVCC is a Product Development Partnership (PDP) and works with industry, academic and other partner organisations to support the development of new vector control products.
IVCC has demonstrated that the PDP model is effective and impactful in bringing together partners for the development of new public health products. As a result, a robust pipeline of new product opportunities exists, and we are on track to support the development of novel vector control tools for the market.
About the roles:
IVCC is recruiting for two Technical Officer positions to provide technical coordination and scientific support across IVCC projects, supporting the coordination of technical activities, information management, research findings and technical documentation.
The two positions will each have a different project focus:
- Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) pillar, supporting technical activities related to the ITN pillar team.
- Spatial Emanator pillar, providing technical coordination and scientific support to the Spatial Emanator pillar team, with additional support across outdoor transmission and active ingredient discovery activities.
The roles are based at IVCC's Liverpool office with hybrid working arrangements, by agreement with the line manager and in line with team requirements. Some international travel may be required to support partner engagement and project delivery.
What you’ll be doing:
- Technical Officer, ITN pillar
This position will primarily support technical activities related to the Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) pillar team. This includes supporting the management of laboratory and field trials, reviewing, reporting and presenting research findings, contributing to data management plans and statistical analysis, monitoring relevant scientific literature and preparing concise monthly overviews, and extracting key results from datasets and partner reports, with clear tables, figures and short interpretations.
The role combines practical coordination of technical activities with data interpretation and communication and will work across projects according to agreed priorities.
- Technical Officer, Spatial Emanator pillar
This role coordinates technical resources and provides technical support to IVCC projects, with a primary focus on assisting the Spatial Emanator pillar team and additional support across outdoor transmission and active ingredient discovery activities. This includes drafting, quality-checking and formatting technical documents, extracting key results from datasets and partner reports and preparing clear tables, figures and short interpretations, coordinating meeting agendas, minutes and action logs, supporting information management and external communications, supporting laboratory and semi-field activities, contributing to experimental design discussions, and supporting methods development and validation.
Recruitment for the ITN and SE positions will be managed jointly, so you only need to submit one application. In your covering letter, please indicate whether you wish to be considered for the ITN position, the SE position, or both, and briefly explain your motivation for each selection.
What we’re looking for:
The ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- MSc in Entomology, Biological Sciences or relevant experience in the field.
- Familiarity with insect vector control, malaria and/or NTDs.
- Experience processing, analysing and interpreting scientific datasets through postgraduate research or applied work.
- Experience working with strategic stakeholders, including scientists, industry, CROs, academia, foundations, governments and/or NGOs.
- Experience with routine stakeholder and partner interactions.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage tasks and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality mindset when working with documentation and data.
- Ability to work independently within agreed priorities, seek guidance and escalate issues where appropriate.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Problem-solving and improvement-focused approach.
- Interest in the interface between science, product development and innovation delivery in an international setting.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and safeguarding.
- Commitment to transparency and integrity.
- Ability to work from the Liverpool office on a hybrid basis, with some international travel.
Candidates should refer to the attached Job Descriptions for the full person specification and details of the requirements for each position.
