Technical Officer in the Computing Services Centre

The Computing Services Centre (CSC) at City University of Hong Kong manages the University’s Information Technology infrastructure and services covering Data Centre Operations, Cloud and System Hosting, Research Computing and High-Performance Computing, Communication and Networking, Workspace and Audio-Visual Technologies, and other related IT functions to support the University’s operations.

Duties

• Provide technical support and operate IT and AV systems for University’s events, conferences, seminars, classes, and other activities;

• Assist users in preparing and delivering presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other presentation and collaboration platforms;

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of IT and AV facilities in centrally managed teaching and event venues and provide user support for these facilities;

• Install, configure, and maintain computers, peripheral devices, and related software in teaching venues and event spaces;

• Assist in the planning, implementation, testing, commissioning, and documentation of IT and AV system enhancement and upgrade projects;

• Liaise and coordinate with vendors and contractors on equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and technical support services; and

• Perform any other duties as assigned.

5-day work per week. Working outside normal office hours may be required to support events and project activities.

Requirements

• An Associate Degree/Higher Diploma in Science, Engineering, or related disciplines, with at least 2 years’ relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably in IT and AV fields;

• Good knowledge of AV systems, including audio, video, control systems, and conferencing technologies;

• Knowledge of Windows operating systems, PC hardware, network connectivity, and peripheral devices;

• Good problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills;

• Ability to work independently and under pressure; and

• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese are required.

• Proficient in AV control system programming, such as Creston AV Controller, is preferred; and

• Experience in venue support, event support and AV system maintenance would be an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes.
