Job Title: Technical Officer (WFMRF) Department: WFMRF, HKUST(GZ) Job Posting Details Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents. In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe. WFMRF is a central research facility that supports wave functional metamaterial research and teaching activities in the HKUST(GZ). WFMRF has the position opening for laboratory technicians. Applicants should have a strong sense of responsibility and be able to work independently. Rich experience in process of ceramic material for high-frequency electromagnetic wave applications and micro-nano fabrication of functional devices are expected. Duties Major responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Responsible for the daily laboratory operation and management;
2. Conduct basic training in the use of laboratory instruments/ facilities to users and ensure smooth operation in support of research and teaching activities;
3. Maintain the upkeep of communal equipment, required license and experimental material supplies;
4. Monitor laboratorial safety and access control in compliance with the University's regulations;
5. Conduct safety training to all individuals in the laboratory;
6. Provide good support in experiments, research projects and other lab duties as assigned.

任职要求

1. Doctoral degree in a related field of Science and Engineering is required;
2. Knowledge and experience in processing ceramic materials, especially those for microwave applications, are required;
3. Knowledge and experience in micro-nano fabrication of functional devices are required. The qualified applicant should be able to independently develop related processes, with complete experience in micro-nano processing technology research and demonstration, especially those for the deposition, patterning, etching, and characterization of thin films;
4. Instrumentation skills should include but are not limited to the powder dealing equipment, film equipment, thermal equipment, vacuum equipment, and so on.
5. Able to multi-task, detail-minded with good communication skills;
6. Able to work with people from different scientific and engineering disciplines;
7. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. This is a Mainland appointment, and the appointee will be offered a contract by HKUST(GZ) entity in accordance with the Mainland labor laws and regulations.
