What they need

About the Role

Vantage Crest Advisory is adding a Technical Operations Manager to its South Boston team to oversee the technical side of live events. You'll plan equipment and crew requirements, prepare venue specifications, and lead technicians through setup and show operations.

We're looking for someone with at least five years of experience in live event production or technical management who can prepare a clear plan before load-in, keep crews organised, and handle problems calmly when a show is underway.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Visit event venues to assess technical requirements, including power, rigging, lighting, audio, and video.
  • Prepare technical specifications and production plans before each event.
  • Schedule technicians, stagehands, and equipment operators according to the needs of each show.
  • Brief crew members on their responsibilities, schedules, safety requirements, and event plans.
  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, repairs, and spare equipment.
  • Coordinate load-in, setup, technical checks, live operations, and load-out.
  • Lead the technical crew on-site and resolve equipment or production issues as they arise.
  • Check that equipment is tested and ready before the event begins.
  • Coordinate with event organisers, venue staff, suppliers, and production teams.
  • Monitor technical requirements throughout each event and adjust plans when necessary.
  • Maintain records of equipment condition, repairs, crew schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Address safety concerns and ensure the team follows appropriate working procedures.

What You'll Bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in live event production or technical management.
  • Working knowledge of professional lighting, audio, and video systems.
  • Experience assessing venues and preparing technical specifications.
  • Previous responsibility for scheduling crews and coordinating equipment.
  • Ability to lead technicians and stagehands during setup and live events.
  • Practical troubleshooting skills when equipment or production plans go wrong.
  • Understanding of safe working practices for event setup, rigging, power, and equipment handling.
  • Clear communication skills, including giving concise instructions over a headset.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail when preparing production plans.
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

What We Expect

Every event should have a written technical plan before load-in begins. Crew members need to understand their responsibilities, equipment must be checked, and safety procedures must be followed.

When something goes wrong, we expect you to assess the situation, communicate clearly, and decide what needs to happen next. You'll also need to keep accurate equipment records and raise maintenance or safety issues before they affect another event.

Working Arrangements

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Location: South Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Full-time

Live events may require early starts, evening work, or weekend attendance. The employer should confirm the actual schedule and any overtime arrangements.

How to Apply

Apply through Indeed with your current Resume. Describe your experience managing live event production, leading technical crews, preparing venue specifications, and maintaining equipment. Include examples of events you've supported and the responsibilities you held.
