What they need

Ka whati te tai, ka pao te tōrea

When opportunity arises, we must be ready to strike before it passes.

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Payroll Systems Specialist to provide technical expertise across our payroll, Time & Attendance and workforce systems.

You will be the go-to person for complex payroll and system issues, using your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to investigate root causes and develop practical, sustainable solutions. You’ll lead system configuration, testing and implementation, while strengthening controls, data integrity and system performance.

Working across People & Capability, IT, Finance, operational teams and vendors, you’ll translate payroll requirements and business needs into effective system solutions and provide technical advice on complex matters and continuous improvement opportunities.

What sets you apart

You’re curious about how systems work and enjoy solving problems that others might find difficult. You like getting into the detail, understanding what’s happening behind the scenes, finding the root cause and working out how to make things better. You’ll bring strong technical experience, analytical thinking and the ability to turn complex information into practical solutions.

  • Significant relevant experience across payroll, Time & Attendance, HRIS or complex enterprise systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with data and investigating issues through to root cause
  • Experience with system configuration, testing, implementations or significant system changes, along with knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and employment agreements
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and work effectively with a range of stakeholders

This role sits within a broader internal salary band reflecting relativities across the organisation for the same or similar sized roles and performance. New appointments will be made in the range of $88,851 - $99,304 and will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role
