What they need

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate has already been part of a team that built an API partner ecosystem from scratch. You know what good looks like, you know where the landmines are, and are prepared to own the function here
  • Experience owning the technical narrative in a business development or sales process
  • Hands-on experience building or working directly with production APIs
  • Experience writing technical requirements and owning an API product roadmap
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language
  • Direct experience building an API partnership ecosystem or function at a SaaS startup from 0 to 1
  • Experience building in a regulated fintech environment is required. You understand how card network rules, KYC/AML obligations, sponsor bank oversight,
  • And data privacy constraints shape what can be built, promised, and delivered to partners
  • Comfortable setting honest expectations with partners about what the API can do, what it cannot, and what it would take to get there
  • Ability to get work done in ambiguity and energized by building structure where none exists

What the job involves

  • In this role, you'll define what the API looks like, shape the integration strategy, lead the technical components of the go-to-market strategy, and code when needed
  • You’ll be the person leading technical discussions with potential partners
  • You'll work closely with our Engineering Manager, Data Engineer, CPO and Head of Partnerships: the Engineering Manager on build priorities and architecture, the Data Engineer on integration data flows, the CPO on aligning the API roadmap with broader product strategy, and the Head of Partnerships for the technical components of sales pitches
  • Kasheesh operates under sponsor bank oversight as a regulated card program. You'll be building within that compliance framework daily. Card network rules, KYC/AML obligations, and data privacy constraints will shape what you can build, what you can promise partners, and how fast you can move. Experience navigating this environment is required
  • Be an integral part of the sales process by leading technical conversations and developing the materials needed to support the sales process
  • Design and own the architecture of Kasheesh's partner-facing API including what endpoints should look like, expected responses, and the overall developer experience
  • Own the API product roadmap and work with the engineering team to ensure what gets built serves both partners and the business
  • Write detailed technical requirements and translate them into actionable specs for the engineering team
  • Build and own Kasheesh's API integration strategy: how partners connect, how they onboard based on their type and complexity, and how quickly we get them live
  • Create the partner-facing documentation, sandbox environments, and frameworks partners need to integrate successfully
  • Build the internal playbooks and infrastructure for a repeatable, scalable partner program
  • Write code when needed to prototype, validate or unblock integrations
  • This is a build-from-scratch role with real ownership. The milestones below reflect what we expect from someone who hits the ground running, earns trust quickly, and builds with intention
  • 90 Days
  • Established working relationships with Engineering Manager, Data Engineer, CPO, and Head of Partnerships
  • Working knowledge of the sponsor bank relationship and compliance constraints, demonstrated through at least one internal compliance discussion
  • Initial API architecture assessment completed, identifying gaps between current capabilities and what partners will need, delivered to the Engineering Manager and CPO
  • First draft of the API product roadmap and integration strategy presented to and approved by the CPO
  • First technical sales conversation completed alongside the Head of Partnerships with supporting sales materials developed
  • 6 Months
  • Integration strategy finalized and approved including partner tiers, onboarding paths by partner type, and time-to-live targets
  • Sandbox environment and partner-facing documentation live
  • GTM strategy finalized and aligned with the Head of Partnerships
  • At least one partner integration underway
  • 12 Months
  • First partner integrations live and consistently hitting time-to-live targets
  • At least two additional partner integrations underway
  • Repeatable onboarding playbook and internal partner program infrastructure in place
  • API product roadmap actively influencing engineering priorities

The application process

  • While the interview process may vary by role, the typical framework includes: an application, an HR interview, a hiring manager interview, a technical assessment, and founder interviews

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: You’ll be offered a competitive compensation package of both cash and equity.
  • Hybrid Work Environment: Our model gives you space to focus at home on some days and makes the most of in-person time for connection and collaboration.
  • Health and Wellness: We have great Medical/Dental/Vision insurance plans, for you and your family.

You’ll also get a monthly wellness stipend, Calm app subscription, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

  • Strengthen your future: Our 401(k) matching helps you put more money away for tomorrow.

We also offer other tax-saving benefits like FSA and HSA.

  • Unlimited Vacation Time: We trust you to know when to push and when to pause. Take the time you need to recharge and come back ready to build.
  • And it's not all work, no play: Weekly team lunches on us (if you’re in NYC), and we frequently plan fun team outings.

Other offers great for you!
