What they need

About the Company

SIMSQ HK LIMITED is an e-commerce company focusing on travel, postpaid, IoT and other innovative products. Our core strength lies in combining information technology and telecommunications technology to deliver our products to the global market. The business operates through our Shopify store and mobile apps, with a telecom-carrier backend; our technical team (backend, frontend and QA) is based in Shenzhen.

This role spans telecom, e-commerce and cross-border collaboration — a combination of experience rarely found in the market — with room to lead a growing team and advance as the business scales.

Position Summary

We are hiring a full-time Technical Product Manager based in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Reporting directly to management, the Technical Product Manager serves as the link between the Hong Kong business functions and the Shenzhen-based technical team, and owns the full requirement lifecycle for the company’s eSIM, physical SIM, top-up, wholesale-channel and postpaid products — from gathering and analysing business needs, through specification and delivery planning, to release and post-launch follow-up.

Key Competencies

  • Requirements gathering and analysis: communicates effectively with non-technical colleagues and reports clearly to management

  • Project management: plans, tracks and delivers each requirement on time with a remote technical team

This is a hands-on position: the incumbent personally analyses requirements and writes the specifications rather than coordinating the work of others. Prior telecom experience is an advantage but not a requirement.

Collaboration with the Shenzhen technical team is primarily online. More frequent visits to the Shenzhen (Nanshan) office are expected during the initial months to establish working relationships, with travel arranged as needed thereafter. Transport and accommodation are provided by the company.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements and Stakeholder Communication

  • Gather requirements from management and business functions (operations, customer service, marketing and sales); analyse the underlying business need and confirm scope and priority with management

  • Translate requirements into business flows, functional specifications, product requirements documents (PRDs) and acceptance criteria that are clear to both non-technical stakeholders and the technical team

  • Explain technical constraints, options and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders in plain language, and convey business context accurately to the technical team

  • Provide regular progress, risk and go-live reporting to management and obtain sign-off at key milestones

Project Management and Delivery

  • Develop and maintain the delivery plan for each requirement, including owner, timeline, milestones, dependencies and acceptance criteria

  • Coordinate the Shenzhen technical team (backend, frontend and QA) and Hong Kong stakeholders; monitor progress, resolve blockers and escalate risks in a timely manner

  • Manage online store and mobile app releases: confirm testing and rollback plans prior to release, oversee go-live verification and follow up on post-release issues

  • Lead the response to production incidents: establish the facts, keep affected functions informed, support management decisions on delay, fix or rollback, and follow up on remediation and post-incident reviews

  • Maintain PRDs, SOPs, release checklists, meeting action items and the team knowledge base

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in any discipline

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in product delivery, product management or technical project management for software or e-commerce products, including personally writing PRDs or functional specifications

  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements from multiple business functions and convert ambiguous or verbal requests into clear, agreed specifications

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand and be understood by non-technical colleagues, explain technical matters in plain language, and report with confidence to management

  • Experience as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and a remote or outsourced development team (Mainland China–based team preferred), managing projects from requirement to go-live

  • Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle and basic technical concepts (e.g. APIs, test and production environments, rollback) sufficient to communicate with engineers

  • Fluent Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency sufficient to chair meetings with the Shenzhen team; strong written Chinese and good written English

  • Willing to travel to Shenzhen as required (more frequently in the initial months) and hold a valid travel document for Mainland China (e.g. Home Return Permit)

  • Proficient in using AI tools to improve documentation efficiency

Desirable

  • Experience with e-commerce, order management or payment systems

  • Experience in mobile app (iOS/Android) delivery or release management

  • Experience in telecom, eSIM/SIM, MVNO or MVNE

  • Experience in a start-up or small-company environment, comfortable working across multiple functions

What We Offer

  • 5-day work week

  • 14 days annual leave and 1 day birthday leave

  • Discretionary bonus

  • Medical insurance

  • Mainland travel allowance, with transport and accommodation provided

  • Company-provided AI tool subscriptions
