What they need

As one of the world´s leading manufacturers of cardio- and endovascular medical devices, BIOTRONIK is headquartered in Berlin, Germany, and represented in over 100 countries by its global workforce. The work of our committed, highly specialized, exceptionally skilled employees results in crucial advancements in the world of cardiology and changes the lives of patients every day.

BIOTRONIK is a leading Medical Device company dedicated to revolutionizing patient care through innovative medical device software solutions. With a commitment to cutting-edge technology and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes, we are at the forefront of transforming the industry.

The Technical Product Owner reports to the Director Software Development & Digital Health. He/She is part of an interdisciplinary, stream-aligned team and is responsible for owning a focused, high-impact area of the Home Monitoring platform — with real end-to-end accountability rather than just a seat at the table. The role covers translating customer requirements into technical specifications and driving the full lifecycle of their product area — from planning through to operations and maintenance — collaborating closely with other Product Owners to align on cross-component dependencies and platform-wide priorities, contributing to the improvement of patient care and clinical workflows.

Your Responsibilities

  • Define, refine, prioritise, and maintain the product backlog for your Home Monitoring area in close alignment with the development team; translate customer requirements and feedback into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications.
  • Contribute to the product vision and roadmap for your area, aligned with business objectives, customer needs, and clinical workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with the stream-aligned, cross-functional team (software engineers, test engineers, UX designers, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance) from concept through delivery to operations, ensuring end-to-end ownership of features.
  • Act as the internal customer by accepting delivered features, ensuring product quality, and assuming sub-project leadership toward other departments and stakeholders, including clinicians, physicians, marketing, and senior management.
  • Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives), own the full lifecycle of your product area including maintenance, and ensure development processes adhere to industry standards and medical device regulations (e.g. IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820).
  • Coordinate with adjacent Product Owners to align on cross-component dependencies and platform-wide priorities.
  • Support audit readiness and end-to-end traceability of requirements throughout the development cycle.

Y our Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 5–7 years of relevant work experience in product management, requirements engineering, or as a (Technical) Product Owner in agile software development.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the medical device or healthcare industry would be an added advantage.
  • Proven experience owning a product backlog and translating customer requirements into user stories and technical specifications for cloud-based software solutions.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent agile certification is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP) and their scaling (SAFe), and proficiency with tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and prioritisation skills with a quality-conscious, solution-oriented working style and hands-on mentality from concept to completion.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with passion and enthusiasm for digital products, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment. Fluent in English; German is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for medical device software (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, FDA 21 CFR Part 820) would be an added advantage.
