Technical Production Designer (Packaging)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Production Designer (Packaging) to join our growing team. This role demands a strong background in desktop publishing, packaging artwork creation, and print production, combined with a rigorous approach to quality control and technical accuracy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, adapting, and finalizing packaging artwork that meets brand standards, regulatory requirements, and production specifications. This position requires close collaboration with creative, marketing, production, and project teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Artwork Development

• Lead the development, adaptation, and finalization of packaging artwork in accordance with client specifications, brand guidelines, and production requirements.
• Manage packaging projects from creative rollout through final production, ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery.
• Create, amend, and prepare artwork files for print production using industry-standard design software.
• Translate brand guidelines and marketing requirements into visually compelling, technically accurate packaging solutions.
• Adapt packaging designs for multiple markets, product variants, and regional requirements.

Technical Production & Print Readiness

• Ensure all artwork complies with technical print specifications, keylines, color standards, and production requirements.
• Prepare print-ready files and support prepress production activities.
• Provide technical expertise on packaging materials, print processes, finishing techniques, color management, and production workflows.
• Support artwork proofing, validation, and approval processes using approved quality assurance systems.
• Conduct pre-flight checks and artwork verification to ensure production readiness.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Perform detailed quality control reviews and artwork validation checks to ensure files are accurate and compliant.
• Identify and resolve artwork, production, and technical design challenges to minimize errors, rework, and production risks.
• Maintain the highest standards of quality, compliance, and brand consistency across all deliverables.
• Ensure proper version control and documentation throughout the artwork lifecycle.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with marketing, branding, print production, packaging, and project teams to deliver effective packaging solutions.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the implementation of packaging artwork best practices, standards, and workflow improvements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on artwork quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and industry developments to improve production quality and efficiency.
• Maintain awareness of packaging design trends, consumer preferences, and cultural considerations across global markets.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices across the broader design and production teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Essential

• Degree or Diploma in:
• Graphic Design
• Packaging Design
• Visual Communications
• Print Technology
• Artwork Production
• Related Design Discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in packaging design, artwork production, creative rollout, or packaging finalization.
• Proven experience managing packaging projects from concept adaptation through final print production.
• Advanced proficiency in:
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe InDesign
• Strong understanding of:
• Print production processes
• Packaging materials and substrates
• Color management
• Finishing techniques
• Quality control procedures
