Technical Project Manager (Hardware and Operations)

This is a technical role. It is not an administration, office management or general country manager position, and applications without an engineering or hardware background will not be taken forward.

We need someone who can sit with an engineer, understand what has actually gone wrong with a board, a test or a firmware build, and then turn that into a plan, a date and an action that gets chased to closure.

ABOUT TIMEBEAT

We build precision time synchronisation hardware and software: PCIe cards, rack appliances and portable units used by stock exchanges, telecoms operators, broadcasters and defence programmes. We are headquartered in London with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Dallas, Texas. We are growing, and the amount of technical work in flight now needs a dedicated owner in Vietnam.

THE JOB

You will own the delivery of technical work running out of our Vietnam office: hardware builds, production testing, pre shipment checks, firmware and software releases, and the supplier and component work that sits behind all of it. You report directly to the co-founders.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Own the technical plan: builds, test, releases and deliveries, with clear owners, dates and dependencies that everyone can see.

• Work hands on with our engineers in Vietnam and London. Understand the technical blockers well enough to judge them, not just log them.

• Coordinate builds with contract manufacturers and suppliers: BOMs, component availability, lead times, alternates and build slots.

• Run and improve production test and pre shipment checks, so every unit that leaves is configured, tested and documented.

• Track failures and returns through to root cause, and make sure the fix actually lands in the next build or release.

• Give London an honest weekly status, including what has slipped and why.

• Build lightweight, repeatable processes and documentation where today there is tribal knowledge.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential

• A degree in electronics, electrical, computer or mechatronic engineering, or equivalent hands on technical experience.

• Several years delivering technical projects in hardware, electronics, manufacturing, telecoms or networking.

• Practical understanding of how a hardware product gets built and tested: BOMs, assembly, bring up, test and failure analysis.

• Comfortable around software: you can follow a release process, read a log file and use a Linux command line without help.

• A track record of delivering against dates that depended on engineers and outside suppliers.

• Strong written and spoken English, and fluent Vietnamese.

• Based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Desirable

• Experience with EMS or contract manufacturers in Vietnam or the wider region.

• New product introduction (NPI) or production test experience.

• Networking knowledge (Ethernet, switches, Linux networking). Any exposure to timing, GNSS or PTP is a bonus, not a requirement.

• Import, export and customs experience.

• Experience working for a foreign owned technology company.

HOW WE WORK ACROSS TIME ZONES

Vietnam is six hours ahead of London and twelve ahead of Dallas. Expect regular afternoon overlap with London and occasional early or late calls with the US.
