What they need

Title : Technical Project Manager – Security Network Engineering

Location : Dublin City Centre (onsite 5 days a week)

Type: Permanent

THIS ROLE IS ONSITE FULL TIME - PLS DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR HYBRID AS THIS IS NOT AN OPTION

A senior Technical Project Manager responsible for delivering complex security and network infrastructure projects within a global technology and security organisation. The role is hands-on from a project perspective, requiring someone who can manage engineers, vendors and senior stakeholders while understanding the underlying technology and operational risks. Projects will cover areas such as firewalls, VPN/remote access, identity and authentication, web security, SIEM/EDR and security tooling. Many projects will be global in scope and involve changes to business-critical production environments.

THIS IS A SENIOR PERMANENT PROJECT MANAGER ROLE. YOU WILL IDEALLY BE COMING FROM A SECURITY OR NETWORK RELATED BACKGROUND

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage security infrastructure projects end-to-end, from requirements and design through implementation, migration and handover.
  • Build detailed project plans covering milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, testing, change windows and rollback plans.
  • Coordinate Security, Network, Windows/Linux, Operations, Service Desk, vendors and business teams across different regions.
  • Own the production change process, including impact assessments, testing, approvals, communications and post-change validation.
  • Run technical and design meetings, challenging assumptions, decisions and risks where required.
  • Manage vendors, professional services, licensing and platform upgrades/replacements.
  • Identify and resolve risks, blockers and dependencies early.
  • Track audit, regulatory and security commitments, including DORA-related requirements.
  • Provide clear reporting to technical and senior management, translating technical issues into business impact and risk.
  • Improve project governance, documentation and delivery processes.

Technical Knowledge Required:

  • The candidate does not need to configure the technology but must understand it sufficiently to challenge engineers and recognise technical and operational risks.
  • Key areas include:
  • Firewalls: policies, segmentation, NAT, HA, upgrades and IPsec VPNs.
  • Remote Access: VPN, SSL VPN, RDP gateways, certificates and conditional access.
  • Identity: MFA, RADIUS, SAML/OIDC, AD, Entra ID, PKI and FIDO2.
  • Web Security: proxies, URL filtering, SSL inspection and internet connectivity.
  • Security Operations: SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management and incident response.
  • Networking: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, VLANs and multicast, particularly in low-latency environments.
  • Security Frameworks: NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls and DORA.

Experience Required:

  • 8+ years managing technical infrastructure or engineering projects.
  • At least 4 years in security, network or identity projects.
  • Experience delivering a major security platform replacement or migration in a live production environment.
  • Strong experience with production change management, including testing, maintenance windows and rollback planning.
  • Experience managing multiple technical teams, vendors and international stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working directly with security/network engineers and Risk, Audit and Compliance teams.
  • Experience within financial services, trading technology or another highly regulated, low-downtime environment is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Security or Network Engineer is a strong advantage.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, CISSP, CISM, Security+, PCNSA or CCNP Security are beneficial but not essential.
