What they need

Job Overview

We are looking for a motivated and technically minded Technical Sales Engineering Intern to support the growth of our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar and battery energy storage business across Australia. Working within the Channel Business Department, this role will work closely with the C&I Business Development Manager and the wider Sales, Product and Engineering teams to support customer engagement, channel development, sales opportunity tracking, product promotion and internal coordination.

The role is suitable for a final-year university student or recent graduate from an electrical engineering, telecommunications, renewable energy, power engineering or related technical background who is interested in developing a career in renewable energy, energy storage and technical sales. The internship provides structured learning and practical exposure to real C&I projects rather than requiring independent ownership of major accounts or complex commercial negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Customer & Channel Sales Support
  • Support the C&I Business Development Manager in managing relationships with distributors, EPCs, electrical contractors, solar installers and other channel partners.
  • Assist with customer follow-ups, meetings, account communication and basic enquiries.
  • Collect project requirements and support customer visits and opportunity development.
  1. Sales Opportunity & Pipeline Management
  • Maintain and update customer enquiries, project opportunities and sales pipeline records.
  • Track key project information including customer, distributor, region, capacity, status and delivery timing.
  • Support opportunity follow-up, pipeline reporting and basic sales analysis.
  1. Product & Solution Support
  • Build a working understanding of Sungrow C&I solar inverter and battery energy storage products and applications.
  • Assist with preliminary product selection, quotations and customer presentations.
  • Collect basic project inputs and coordinate with Product and Engineering teams when technical support is required.
  1. Customer Presentations & Product Promotion
  • Prepare customer presentations, product materials and sales documentation.
  • Support customer training, technical workshops, product demonstrations and industry events.
  • Assist with product promotion and communicate key product features, applications and commercial benefits.
  1. Market & Competitor Research
  • Research the Australian C&I solar and battery storage market.
  • Track competitor products, pricing, market positioning and customer feedback.
  • Prepare basic market and competitor summaries and help identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  1. Internal Coordination & Administration
  • Coordinate with Sales, Product, Engineering, Service, Supply Chain and Marketing teams.
  • Support internal follow-up, meeting notes and basic sales documentation.
  • Assist with other channel sales and business development activities as required.

Requirements

  1. Education
  • Currently completing or recently completed a Bachelor's/ Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
  1. Experiences
  • Previous full-time industry experience is not required.
  • Exposure to solar, battery storage, electrical systems or renewable energy through university studies is highly regarded.
  • Previous customer-facing, technical sales, project coordination or business development experience is an advantage.
  1. Knowledge & Skills
  • Basic understanding of renewable energy, solar PV, battery energy storage, electrical systems, power engineering, or energy systems is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow up assigned actions.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other standard business tools; basic data analysis skills are desirable.
  • Able to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team.
  • Good written and spoken English. Mandarin language capability is an advantage but not essential.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings and industry events.
