About This Position
You already know the frustration of selling something you can't fully explain.
You're speaking with engineers, project managers and procurement specialists who know the technical detail — and customers notice when the salesperson doesn't.
This role is different. You'll work with customers across Australia's electrical infrastructure sector, helping them solve technical problems, understand project requirements and build long-term partnerships — not simply sell products.
Whether you've built your career in technical sales, engineering, estimating or technical support, success here comes from the same principle: customers trust people who actually understand what they're buying.
Working closely with Engineering, Production and Logistics, you'll become a trusted technical partner throughout the customer's journey.
Customers rarely remember the quotation. They remember the person they trusted to solve the problem. That's exactly the kind of person this team is looking for.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building long-term relationships with utilities, contractors and industrial customers
- Developing new business opportunities across technical B2B markets
- Preparing quotations, commercial proposals and tender submissions
- Presenting technical solutions to engineers, project teams and procurement professionals
- Working closely with Engineering, Production and Logistics throughout project delivery
About You
This opportunity is likely to suit you if you've built your career in Electrical Infrastructure, Power Utilities, Electrical Distribution, Industrial Automation, Switchgear & Protection Systems, Transformers & Power Equipment, Industrial Manufacturing, Capital Equipment, or Technical B2B Sales.
Strong technical credibility is essential. Commercial experience is valuable, but motivation, curiosity and the ability to earn customer trust matter just as much.
You'll ideally bring:
- An Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering background — or direct, hands-on experience within electrical infrastructure, utilities or industrial manufacturing
- Confidence communicating with engineers, contractors and commercial decision-makers
- Strong relationship-building skills and a consultative approach
- A current Australian Driver's Licence
Sales experience is certainly valuable — but the hiring team places just as much weight on technical curiosity, commercial awareness and the ability to build long-term customer relationships. If you've built a solid technical foundation and you're motivated to grow your commercial career, we'd like to hear from you.
If your background doesn't include exposure to electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering, this particular role is unlikely to be the right match — though we'd still encourage you to follow Career Meister for other opportunities.
Beyond that, we're looking for someone who naturally asks thoughtful questions, listens carefully before recommending solutions, follows through on commitments, works independently and earns trust through professionalism rather than pressure.
Technical product knowledge can be developed. Professional credibility, curiosity and relationship-building are much harder to teach.
What's On Offer
- $85,000–$105,000 + Superannuation guide (base salary — no commission)
- Stable full-time permanent position
- Ongoing technical and product training
- Long-term career development
- A collaborative team environment supported by experienced Engineering, Production and Logistics colleagues
- Exposure to major infrastructure customers across Australia
The advertised salary is a guide, not a fixed range. If you're earlier in your commercial career but bring the right technical background and attitude, we'd still encourage you to apply. Likewise, candidates with particularly strong technical capability and overall fit are encouraged to apply — the client is open to discussing a higher salary for the right person.
Worth Knowing Before You Apply
Regular interstate travel is an essential part of this role. There's no fixed schedule, but it happens often, and it's not optional. If travel isn't something you can build your life around right now, this probably isn't the right fit — and that's fine.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm. For the first 12 months, regular onsite attendance is preferred while you build product knowledge and establish strong relationships across Engineering, Production and Logistics.
