Technical Sales Support Engineer

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role is responsible for reviewing customer specifications and technical drawings, preparing competitive quotations and tender submissions, and providing technical support throughout the pre-sales process. The incumbent acts as a bridge between customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure that proposed solutions meet technical and commercial requirements.

The team actively collaborate, sharing insights and expertise to develop effective solutions and continuously improve processes. While each engineer is responsible for managing their own tasks, the team fosters a supportive environment where open discussion and collective problem-solving are encouraged.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Review and interpret customer specifications, technical drawings and bill of quantities to identify product requirements and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Prepare quotations, cost estimates, technical proposals and tender submissions in accordance with customer and project requirements.
• Provide pre-sales technical support by recommending suitable product configurations, proposing alternative solutions and participating in technical discussions with customers.
• Evaluate technical requirements, perform basic engineering calculations and prepare supporting technical documentation where required.
• Liaise with suppliers, principals and third-party vendors to obtain pricing, technical information and delivery commitments for project proposals.
• Maintain accurate quotation, tender and project records, and support the smooth handover of awarded projects to the operations or project execution team.
• Monitor order progress, project schedules and customer requirements to ensure timely fulfilment of commitments.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders through responsive and professional support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing customer feedback, market insights and opportunities to enhance products, services and processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of experience in a technical or engineering support role, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering services environment. They have been exposed to basic engineering design, technical documentation, and customer support processes, either through internships, academic projects, or entry-level roles.

KEY SKILLS

·       Technical Drawing & CAD Proficiency: Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and bill of quantities. Exposure to AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar CAD software would be an advantage.

·       Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to assess technical requirements and propose effective solutions.

·       Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal, to interact with customers and internal teams.

·       Team Collaboration: Willingness to work closely with engineers, sales, operations and project teams to deliver cohesive solutions.

·       Attention to Detail: Precision in reviewing specifications, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with standards.
