Cardiff Canning is expanding its night‑shift operations and we’re looking for a Technical Shift Supervisor to lead and oversee our canning line team. This role is ideal for a mechanically minded operator ready to step into a leadership position, ensuring smooth production, high quality and a safe, well‑run night shift.
Role Purpose
You will supervise the Canning Line Operatives, ensuring machinery runs efficiently, quality standards are met, and production targets are achieved. You’ll act as the senior decision‑maker on shift, supporting staff, resolving technical issues and maintaining a professional, organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Shift leadership — Lead and support Canning Line Operatives throughout the night shift
• Machine oversight — Ensure safe, efficient operation of canning line machinery
• Quality assurance — Maintain high standards of filling accuracy, product quality and documentation
• Technical troubleshooting — Identify and resolve mechanical issues, escalating when required
• Maintenance coordination — Oversee routine cleaning and basic maintenance carried out by operators
• Health & safety compliance — Ensure safe working practices across the shift
• Shift reporting — Complete accurate production, quality and incident records

Requirements

• Mechanically minded — Comfortable with machinery, fault‑finding and adjustments
• Responsible leadership — Able to lead a team independently on night shift
• Attention to detail — Strong focus on accuracy, cleanliness and quality
• Quality minded — Committed to high‑standard production
• Experience in manufacturing or production is beneficial but not essential

Shift Pattern & Benefits

• 3.5 days per week – night shift
• No weekend working

About the Team You’ll Lead
You will supervise Canning Line Operatives, whose responsibilities include:

• Operating canning machinery
• Ensuring accurate filling
• Monitoring product quality
• Routine cleaning and maintenance
• Stock control support
• Following health & safety procedures

Your role is to guide, support and elevate this team to consistently deliver high‑quality production.

Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
