Technical Solutions Engineer – BMS / HVAC Controls

Location: Philippines – Remote
Employment Type: Full-time
Schedule: Primarily local hours, with some US overlap
Compensation: ₱100,000–₱145,000 per month

About the Company

Our client is a technology company focused on improving indoor air quality and building performance through connected environmental monitoring solutions.

Their products combine smart sensors, cloud-based analytics, and building management system integrations to help commercial buildings improve air quality, optimize HVAC operations, reduce energy consumption, and support healthy-building certifications.

Their solutions are designed for enterprise and commercial environments, including large-scale building portfolios, and integrate with existing building systems and networks.

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Solutions Engineer – BMS / HVAC Controls to provide technical support and solutions expertise across customer deployments, support cases, pre-sales activities, and technical escalations.

This role requires strong hands-on experience with BMS, HVAC controls, or building automation, combined with practical IP networking knowledge.

You will troubleshoot technical issues across BMS integrations, BACnet communications, networking, firewalls, proxies, SSL inspection, NTP, and device configuration.

You will also work directly with enterprise customers, Sales, Customer Success, Deployment teams, and internal Engineering.

The ideal candidate can independently work through Tier 1–3 technical issues, determine root causes across multiple systems, and clearly explain complex technical problems to both technical and non-technical customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve customer technical issues across BMS, HVAC controls, networking, and connected devices.
  • Troubleshoot BACnet integrations, including point discovery, mapping, communication, and data validation.
  • Diagnose IP networking and connectivity issues involving DHCP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, ports, proxies, SSL inspection, and NTP.
  • Support customers with network admission and device connectivity requirements.
  • Investigate data-quality issues and determine whether problems originate from the device, network, BMS, or integration layer.
  • Manage and resolve technical customer support cases through an external support queue.
  • Handle routine support requests as well as complex technical escalations.
  • Support Sales with technical questions during the pre-sales process.
  • Support Customer Success with technical account-health investigations.
  • Support Deployment teams when technical issues arise during installations.
  • Assist with security questionnaires and technical customer requirements.
  • Communicate complex technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Document troubleshooting processes, solutions, and technical knowledge for internal use.
  • Provide Product and Engineering teams with feedback on recurring technical issues and customer requirements.
  • Escalate issues that require product-level or engineering intervention, such as rare firmware or core-product defects.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in BMS, HVAC controls, building automation, or building controls.
  • Strong understanding of BACnet, particularly BACnet/IP.
  • Practical IP networking knowledge, including:
  • IP addressing
  • DHCP/DNS
  • VLANs
  • Firewalls
  • Ports
  • Proxies
  • NTP
  • Device connectivity
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues independently.
  • Experience managing an external customer support or technical support queue.
  • Strong written technical communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to customers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across BMS, networking, devices, integrations, and cloud environments.
  • Strong technical ownership and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with Niagara/Tridium.
  • Experience as a Master Systems Integrator or Systems Integrator.
  • Experience with Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Delta Controls, Distech, Siemens, Trane, Carrier, or other major BMS platforms.
  • Experience with Modbus.
  • Experience with HubSpot, Zendesk, ServiceNow, or similar ticketing platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise SaaS or IoT products.
  • Experience participating in technical pre-sales calls.
  • Experience with security questionnaires or enterprise IT requirements.
  • Hands-on exposure to Wi-Fi constraints, LoRaWAN gateways, cellular connectivity, or PoE.
  • Familiarity with WELL/LEED, APIs, or ticketing systems such as HubSpot.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can take strong technical ownership of customer issues and work methodically from symptoms to root cause.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Technically strong – Has genuine hands-on BMS/HVAC controls experience.
  • Analytical – Can troubleshoot across multiple technical layers rather than focusing on only one system.
  • Customer-focused – Can communicate technical issues clearly and professionally.
  • Methodical – Approaches troubleshooting systematically and pays attention to technical details.
  • Self-directed – Can independently investigate and resolve complex issues.
  • Clear communicator – Can translate complex engineering concepts into understandable explanations.
  • Adaptable – Comfortable working across BMS, networking, IoT, SaaS, devices, and cloud environments.
  • Patient and persistent – Comfortable handling both routine support cases and complex escalations.

What We Offer

  • 100% Remote Work – Work from anywhere in the Philippines.
  • Career Growth Opportunities – Gain hands-on experience and continuous learning.
  • Collaborative & Innovative Team – Work alongside skilled professionals who value technical excellence.

Recruitment Process

The selection process includes:

  • Recruiter Interview
  • Client Interview
  • Technical Test Task
  • Job Offer

The technical assessment may include a hands-on troubleshooting task designed to evaluate your practical knowledge of BMS/HVAC controls, BACnet, networking, and technical problem-solving.

Application

If you have strong hands-on experience in BMS/HVAC Controls, BACnet/BACnet IP, and practical IP networking, and you're comfortable troubleshooting issues across BMS, networking, devices, integrations, and cloud environments, we'd like to hear from you.
