What they need
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Technical Support Specialist for Substation Integration, you will connect customer requirements, Australian standards, project teams, and global factories during the bidding and early execution stages. You will translate technical requirements into clear factory inputs, validate the agreed scope, and identify integration or compliance gaps before designs are finalized. Working with customers, project managers, engineering teams, and factory specialists, you will support technical clarification and equipment integration across high-voltage and medium-voltage substation projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Translate customer specifications, Australian regulatory requirements, and grid-specific technical needs into clear requirements for engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Validate the technical scope during bidding and early project execution to identify compliance gaps, missed requirements, and integration risks before final design release.
- Support the integration of high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment, including switchgear and transformers, within the broader substation design.
- Coordinate technical clarification among customers, project managers, engineering functions, field service teams, and global product factories.
- Ensure customer-driven technical changes and changes of order are accurately reflected in project execution requirements.
- Support technical discussions relating to substation design, secondary-system interfaces, testing, factory acceptance tests, and equipment integration.
- Consolidate technical information into clear responses, documentation, and actions for engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
- Maintain ownership of technical enquiries and facilitate timely escalation to appropriate engineering, product, or field service specialists.
What You Bring
- Approximately five to ten years of relevant experience in substation design and the integration of high-voltage and medium-voltage equipment.
- Strong understanding of how switchgear and transformers operate within an integrated substation design.
- Knowledge of Australian electrical rules, high-voltage regulations, standards, and substation design requirements.
- Experience translating customer specifications and technical requirements into practical engineering, factory, and project execution actions.
- Experience in field service, technical support, engineering, consulting, documentation, analysis, or substation integration.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, analysis, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, project teams, engineering functions, field service personnel, and international manufacturing locations.
- Written and spoken Mandarin proficiency is advantageous but not mandatory.
