This Company builds AI agents for corporate finance teams, integrating with enterprise data sources to automate day to day tasks and deliver insights through natural language. Since launching less than a year ago, the company has grown extremely rapidly, deploying AI agents across hundreds of high growth companies, several unicorn startups, and multiple Fortune 500 customers. Backed by top tier venture capital and a large group of angel investors from leading tech and fintech companies, it is building a category defining product at the intersection of AI and finance.

The team is approximately 12 people, operating out of a NYC HQ in Flatiron, with a flat, high ownership culture where engineers lead their own products. The team moves fast with minimal bureaucracy, ships impactful work weekly, and believes the best work happens together in person.

About This Role

We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff with 3 to 5 years of experience (startup background) or 5 to 8 years (big tech background) to build AI agents that power finance workflows for hundreds of enterprise customers. You'll join a small, flat team of roughly 12, working directly with the founders and co-lead of engineering, owning problems end to end from user discovery to production deployment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building AI agents and agentic systems using LangChain, LangGraph, and Python for enterprise finance use cases
• Designing and maintaining backend systems including database modeling, API endpoints, and data storage (Postgres, DynamoDB, Redis)
• Owning product areas end to end, engaging with designers, go to market, and customers to understand problems and ship solutions
• Building evaluation sets, tracing, and observability for AI agent performance
• Integrating with enterprise data sources (ERPs, banks, billing systems) and orchestrating communication between backend and AI services via Temporal

Must Haves

• Startup experience as an early employee at a Seed through Series C company; big tech acceptable for candidates with 5+ years experience
• Hands-on experience building AI agents or agentic product systems for end users (not pure ML training or research)
• Must be based in NYC, on-site 5 days a week

Baseline Expectations

• 3 to 8 years of experience in backend engineering, building AI agents in production (Python/TypeScript)
• Backend engineering depth: database modeling and API design, owned end to end
• Can own a problem end to end: scopes it, engages stakeholders, ships to production without hand-holding

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in finance or another regulated or sensitive data industry
• Modern backend language familiarity (TypeScript/Node, Python)

Traits to Avoid

• No production AI agent experience: using AI for coding or only ML training does not qualify
• Primarily frontend or full-stack with no real backend depth (no DB or API ownership)
• Pure ML or applied AI research/training background with no product building experience

Pay: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
