Technical Superintendent

About the role

Technical Superintendent ensures all vessels are technically fit, seaworthy and ready to operate at all times, with responsibility for planning, monitoring, and implementing shipboard dry docking and repair schedule and Planned Maintenance System (PMS) on vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Ensuring all vessels are technically fit, seaworthy and ready to operate at all times
• Planning, monitoring, and ensuring the implementation of shipboard planned maintenance and Planned Maintenance System (PMS) on vessel
• Planning and supervising all major technical works on board including engine overhaul, docking or unplanned breakdowns
• Providing Chief Engineers and operational department with technical advice on procedures to effect repairs or diagnose defects and corrective preventive measures
• Carrying out or participating in vessel inspection (internal & external) according to BKI/ IMCA / international classification standard as deemed necessary
• Preparing vessel docking and repair in conjunction with vessel schedule to ensure smooth vessel operations
• Managing and controlling vessel budget and expenditures in cooperation with Procurement
• Preparing specifications for repairs for vendors and organizing supplies of repair equipment and spares
• Keeping up to date on requirements/changes in statutory/class rules/development and other regulations
• Reducing costs by motivating the ship's crew and improving cost awareness

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Naval Engineering/Architecture
• Relevant Certifications and Licenses
• Minimum 3 years working experience as a Technical Superintendent in the maritime industry
• In-depth knowledge of shipboard operations, maintenance, and repair procedures
