What they need
Ever been called the glue of the team?
The one who spots the problem before it becomes everyone's problem, keeps the paperwork one step ahead of the job, and somehow makes total chaos look organised? Stop reading job ads and start reading this one properly.
I am Andrew, from Itch, and I have a genuinely rare kind of role on my desk.
My client has been quietly running compressed air and steam packages that test offshore wells before drilling even starts, for more than 50 years.
Their gear burns cleaner, so operators are not dropping oil into the ocean to prove a well is ready. It is unglamorous, unbelievably important, and nobody outside the industry has ever heard of it.
That is exactly the kind of business worth joining.
Here is what is actually in it for you
- Home by 2:30pm, every day, Monday to Friday. An actual finish line, not a suggestion, so your afternoons belong to you again
- Up to $100,000.00 + super for the right experience.
- A brand new role with real runway, equally happy to grow you into management or hand you off into a field based project or engineering career
- Work that matters more than it looks: your accuracy is the reason offshore crews test wells safely, not a paperwork exercise nobody reads
- A tight Australian crew of 15 backed by a business with more than 50 years of runs on the board across four continents, so the stability is real, not a slide in someone's pitch deck
- Long tenured colleagues who have mostly been there 15 to 20 years, which tells you everything about how this place treats its people
- The kind of give and take culture where getting to an appointment when you need to is just how the team works, no drama, no guilt trip
- A competitive salary based on your experience, reviewed annually so it grows with you, not despite you
- Bibra Lake is their only Australian base inside a company that otherwise runs from Aberdeen to West Africa and Singapore, global reach without the corporate bloat
This role does not exist yet because someone left. It exists because they are growing and the technical team is drowning in admin that is not theirs to do.
That is the gap you would be stepping into, and why there is genuine runway attached to it.
What you will actually be doing
- Being the live wire between workshop, office and the site, so nobody is left chasing anyone
- Making sure every piece of hire equipment is certified, tested and ready before it leaves the gate
- Keeping spares, stock and fleet records tight, with costs landing in the right place every time
- Running pre-mobilisation paperwork, QA checks and third party inspections so projects start clean, not chasing their tail
- Chasing offshore technicians for end of project documentation, then flagging anything that needs a second look
- Logging and closing out unplanned event reports, because this business actually gets better every time something goes wrong
- Jumping in wherever Operations needs an extra set of hands
You will report to a Technical Manager who does not miss a detail and expects the same back. Read that as a compliment, not a warning.
It means the people who thrive here take genuine pride in getting things exactly right, and would rather raise a flag early than let a small problem become somebody else's emergency.
What you will need to bring
- A trade, diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field, or well on the way to one
- Some exposure to oil and gas, mining or heavy equipment environments
- Comfort with Outlook, Word and Excel, plus the appetite to pick up in-house systems fast
- Communication sharp enough to keep site, workshop and office all reading from the same page
- A genuine team mentality: you are here to make everyone else's day easier, not just your own
This one is fully onsite at Bibra Lake, no work from home, and that is the point. You want to be in the room where the actual work happens, not dialling in from your kitchen table.
Here is the honest bit. The right person for this role is genuinely rare: technical enough to speak the workshop's language, organised enough to run the office side without dropping a ball, and steady enough to be the calm in the middle of it all. If that is you, stop scrolling.
This opportunity is only open to applicants with full Australian working rights living in Perth
