Company: Nova Industrial Services Ltd
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Ready to step off the tools but still use your engineering experience?
Nova Industrial Services Ltd are looking for an experienced Industrial Door and/or Loading Bay Engineer who is ready to move into an office-based technical support role.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who has spent time in the field and understands the challenges engineers face on site, but is now looking to use that knowledge in a different way.
You will provide technical support to our field-based engineering team, helping engineers diagnose faults, identify solutions and source the correct replacement parts to get equipment back up and running as efficiently as possible. This role will also include strategically coordinating your engineering team to ensure customer KPIs are met.
You don't need to know everything – we're looking for someone with strong practical engineering knowledge, good problem-solving skills and the ability to work with engineers, suppliers and our operations team to find the right solution.
Responsibilities
Working closely with our engineers and office-based operations team, you will act as a key technical point of contact for reactive repairs, maintenance and remedial works.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing telephone and technical support to field engineers while they are on site.
- Helping engineers diagnose electrical, mechanical and control-related faults.
- Reviewing engineer reports, photographs, videos and technical information to determine likely faults and required repairs.
- Identifying replacement components and parts required to complete repairs.
- Sourcing parts from manufacturers and suppliers, including obsolete or alternative components where necessary.
- Liaising with manufacturers and technical departments for additional product support.
- Reviewing equipment information, drawings, manuals and specifications.
- Helping determine the most appropriate repair solution when equipment is damaged, obsolete or uneconomical to repair.
- Supporting the office team with technical queries and ensuring engineers receive clear and accurate information before attending site.
- Building and maintaining technical knowledge of commonly encountered equipment, parts and manufacturers.
- Supporting the development of a technical parts and product database to improve future fault diagnosis and parts identification.
- Assisting with technical training and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
- Working closely with Operations, Sales and Purchasing to ensure repairs progress efficiently from initial diagnosis through to completion.
Equipment Knowledge
Experience with some or all of the following would be highly beneficial:
- Industrial roller shutters
- Sectional overhead doors
- High speed / fast action doors
- Loading bay equipment
- Dock levellers
- Dock shelters
- Scissor lifts
- Door control panels and electrical control systems
- Safety devices, photocells, light curtains and safety edges
- Motors, gearboxes, limit systems and associated components
Who We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who:
- Has previous hands-on experience as an Industrial Door, Loading Bay or similar Service Engineer.
- Has strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding knowledge.
- Understands what engineers need when trying to diagnose and repair equipment on site.
- Enjoys problem solving and finding solutions to difficult technical issues.
- Is confident speaking with engineers, manufacturers and suppliers.
- Can interpret photographs, engineer reports, drawings and technical manuals.
- Is organised and able to manage several technical queries at the same time.
- Has good computer skills or is willing to develop them.
- Communicates clearly and works well as part of a wider operations team.
Previous office experience is not essential. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced engineers who are looking to transition from a field-based position into an office environment.
Why Join Nova?
This is an opportunity to take the experience you've built throughout your engineering career and use it to support a growing nationwide engineering operation.
Rather than leaving your technical experience behind, you'll become an important source of knowledge for our field team – helping engineers solve problems, reduce repeat visits and get customers' equipment operational again as quickly as possible.
You'll join a growing business where your practical engineering experience will be genuinely valued and where there is scope to develop the role as the business continues to expand.
Interested?
If you're an experienced engineer thinking about stepping away from full-time field work, we'd like to hear from you.
Applications and enquiries will be treated confidentially.
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
