Technical Support Operative

Job Summary

Due to the expansion of in-house tool making and the progression of staff in our Technical Department, a new job opportunity has arisen for a technical support operative. Flowflex is a UK manufacturer of brass compression fittings and has been producing high-quality fittings since 1954.

The job requires a motivated and computer literate individual who can support the staff in our technical department and other sections within our manufacturing operations. Formal engineering qualifications are not required, but a passion for engineering, perhaps demonstrated as a serious hobby, is a must. Some knowledge of computer aided design and manufacturing would be an advantage, but full training will be provided in these areas. A successful candidate should expect progression within the company, with formal qualifications being gained through training courses and/or an apprenticeship.

Duties

• Use of a Band Saw to cut metal billets to the correct dimensions for processing in our CNC machines.
• The loading of existing programs into CNC machines.
• The loading of billets and workpieces into CNC machines, we have a 5-axis Miller and a single spindle twin head turning center.
• The checking and loading of tooling into the CNC machines.
• Performing pre-checks and operation of CNC machines and then monitoring production.
• Dimensional and gauge checking of components.
• Deburring finished parts.
• Performing basic technical drawing changes and updates.
• Assist with basic Quality Control checks of purchased tooling and goods.
• Preparation and pre-setting of tooling for our Rotary Transfer machines.
• Administrative duties in relation to the above.

Weekly pay

23 days holiday per year, Plus bank holidays

Pay: £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
