Technical Support Representative – Pumps (Commercial)
Location: Auckland based, servicing customers nationally
Employment type: Permanent, full-time
Reporting to: National Sales Manager (Auckland)
About the role
Are you the person people call when a pump problem needs solving? Waterco & Davey Water New Zealand is looking for a Technical Support Representative to be the trusted technical resource for our commercial customer base.
This is a technical role first. Around 75% of your time will be spent supporting existing customers, distributors, service agents, consultants and our internal teams with expert advice, troubleshooting and training. The remaining 25% is about keeping your eyes open — identifying and developing new opportunities in the commercial market as you work alongside customers and specifiers.
You'll be based in Auckland, supporting customers across New Zealand, with site visits and customer travel as required.
What you'll do
- Act as the technical expert for our pump range, providing pre-sales and post-sales support to existing customers, distributors, service agents, consultants and internal teams.
- Diagnose and resolve technical and product issues, recommending practical solutions and working with the service team where required.
- Deliver product training, technical presentations and demonstrations to customers, installers and consultants.
- Support commercial project work by advising on product selection, specification and system design.
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities with consultants, contractors and channel partners as they arise through your technical work.
- Maintain accurate customer, enquiry and project records in our CRM.
What you'll bring
- Strong technical knowledge of pumps, water systems or related equipment, with the ability to troubleshoot and provide practical solutions.
- Experience in technical support, technical service, applications engineering or technical sales — ideally in pumps, water, plumbing, irrigation, HVAC or a related industry.
- Exposure to commercial projects, consultants or specifiers would be an advantage.
- Confidence delivering technical advice, demonstrations and customer training.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in identifying opportunities, without this being a target-driven sales role.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated and well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office; Salesforce or Nexus an advantage).
- A relevant trade or technical qualification.
- A current full driver licence valid in New Zealand.
What's on offer
- The chance to be the go-to technical authority for a market leader in the water industry.
- Genuine variety across site work, project support and technical training.
- Ongoing product and technical training.
- A supportive, hands-on team environment within Waterco & Davey Water New Zealand.
- A shared company vehicle is available for site visits, along with the tools and resources you need.
- A competitive remuneration package, discussed with shortlisted candidates.
Applicants must hold valid work authorisation for New Zealand. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
