About Macbot.ai

Macbot.ai develops autonomous mowing solutions for farms, orchards, solar sites, and commercial properties. We combine robotics, autonomous navigation, and electric drive technology to help customers maintain large outdoor spaces with less manual labor.

We’re looking for a hands-on Field Robotics Technician who enjoys working with machines, solving practical problems, and helping customers succeed.

About the role

You will deploy, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Macbot robotic mowing systems at customer sites across the United States. Working closely with our engineering and operations teams, you will help customers get started, keep equipment running reliably, and turn field observations into product improvements.

This role combines mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, outdoor fieldwork, and direct customer support. You should be comfortable working independently, traveling, and adapting to changing site conditions.

What you’ll do

  • Set up and commission robotic mowers, including site assessments, operating-area mapping, system configuration, and initial testing.
  • Monitor mowing performance and troubleshoot navigation, connectivity, mechanical, and electrical issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, replace components, and verify repairs.
  • Train customers and partners on safe operation, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support, communicating problems and next steps clearly.
  • Collect diagnostic logs, photos, and field observations to help engineering investigate complex issues.
  • Document service visits, repairs, equipment condition, and customer feedback.
  • Support product demonstrations, field trials, and testing of product updates.
  • Prepare equipment, tools, and spare parts for deployments and service visits.
  • Follow equipment and site safety procedures during operation, transport, and maintenance.

Required qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in field service, equipment maintenance, robotics, or a related technical support role.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems and programming, including comfort using the command line and working with basic scripts.
  • A technical diploma, vocational qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience in a mechanical, electrical, robotics, automotive, or related field.
  • Confidence using hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment to inspect, maintain, and repair machinery.
  • A systematic approach to troubleshooting and the ability to follow technical documentation.
  • Comfort using mobile apps and computer-based tools for equipment setup and diagnostics.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, helpful approach to customer support.
  • Strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to organize work independently.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain and perform the role’s essential physical tasks, with reasonable accommodation where needed.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel approximately [amount].

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience servicing commercial mowers, agricultural machinery, electric vehicles, or autonomous equipment.
  • Familiarity with GPS/GNSS, sensors, motor controllers, batteries, wireless networking, or control systems.
  • Experience training customers, supporting dealers, or conducting equipment demonstrations.
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-paced technical environment.
