Technical Support Specialist

Our client is seeking a VFD Technical Support Engineer to provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support for variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, and industrial motor control applications. This is a hands-on, onsite position supporting customers and internal teams with equipment troubleshooting, technical questions, product applications, and repairs.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical or controls background with practical experience working with VFDs, PLCs, and industrial automation equipment. PLC programming experience is a plus but not required.

1-5 years exp.

BSEET/BSEE preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams via phone, email, and in person.
• Troubleshoot VFDs, PLCs, motor controls, and electrical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel drawings.
• Support VFD setup, configuration, testing, and repairs.
• Troubleshoot industrial communication protocols (Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
• Manage service requests, warranty evaluations, and RMAs.
• Coordinate with engineering, sales, and service teams to resolve technical issues.
• Document troubleshooting activities and provide customer guidance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Hands-on VFD, PLC, and industrial motor control experience required.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and schematic interpretation skills.
• Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical test equipment.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols preferred.
• PLC programming experience a plus, but not required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently in an onsite technical support role.
