What they need

Company Profile:

Comtech Training (RTO 90933) is Australia's leading provider of accredited training in Telecommunications, Technical and Electronic Security and Cyber Security. With over 21 years of experience, six dedicated training centres nationally, and a team of expert, industry-experienced trainers, we deliver high-quality, practical training that helps individuals and businesses build skills that power Australia's digital economy.

We serve a wide range of clients, including telecommunications service providers, educational institutions, and private sector companies.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a skilled telecommunications professional to join our team as a Training Instructor, delivering Open Registration cabling and fibre training programs. This is a rare opportunity to combine your trade expertise with a rewarding career in education — passing your skills on to the next generation of telecommunications technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nationally recognised training in Open Registration cabling, structured cabling, and optical fibre installation and splicing
  • Assess student competency against AQF and industry standards
  • Develop and maintain practical training environments and infrastructure
  • Identify learner needs and provide tailored support throughout training
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and provide feedback to the resource development team
  • Stay current with industry standards, technology changes, and regulatory requirements including ACMA and AS/CA standards
  • Maintain your own licences, registrations, and industry currency

Requirements:

  • Current ACMA Open Registration (OR) Cabler licence
  • Hands-on experience in structured cabling (copper and fibre), including installation, testing, and splicing
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or coaching others in a trade or technical environment
  • Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to learners at all levels
  • Experience delivering training in a formal VET or RTO setting
  • Familiarity with AQF competency-based assessment
  • Knowledge of current ACMA registration requirements and AS/CA cabling standards
  • Experience with fibre splicing, OTDR testing, and NBN infrastructure

If you're a qualified cabling and fibre professional ready to share your expertise and make a real impact, we encourage you to apply.
