Technical Training Specialist (Solar)

The Training Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of technical training programs for installers and field technicians. The role focuses on conducting hands-on training, assisting in curriculum development, evaluating trainee performance, and ensuring installers are properly equipped with the required technical and safety skills. The ideal candidate will play a key role in improving installation quality, reducing field errors, and enhancing overall service performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on and classroom-based training sessions for installers, technicians, and field staff.
• Support the development of training materials, manuals, SOPs, and installation guides.
• Assist in onboarding new installers and providing foundational technical training.
• Conduct practical demonstrations on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of company systems.
• Evaluate trainee performance through tests, practical assessments, and field observations.
• Provide coaching and corrective guidance to installers to improve technical competence.
• Support the implementation of standardized installation procedures and best practices.
• Conduct field visits to observe installer performance and provide on-site training support.
• Assist in identifying skill gaps and recommending targeted training interventions.
• Maintain accurate training records, attendance, and performance documentation.
• Support the certification process for installers based on training outcomes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Technical Support, and Service teams to ensure training content remains up to date.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality standards during all training activities.
• Gather feedback from trainees to improve training effectiveness and delivery methods.
• Support logistics and preparation for training sessions, including tools, equipment, and materials.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of training programs and learning approaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
• Technical certification in solar PV installation, electrical systems, or related fields is an advantage.
• Minimum of 4 –7 years of hands-on experience in installation, field service, or technical support.
• Prior experience in training, mentoring, or supervising technical teams is an added advantage.
• Experience in solar energy systems, inverters, batteries, or electrical installations is highly preferred.
