A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Tests software for sequence and functionality based on requirement specifications.
• Identifies and documents exact sequence of activities that produced the malfunction.
• Writes defect reports, may investigate defect and problem reports.
• Maintains test environment.
• Maintains defect database and generates defect reports.

**TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM:**Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

**Autonomy:**Recognized as expert in technical area, with high degree of initiative, who trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work unit.

Work consists of technical tasks of the highest complexity .

Responsible for working with supervisor to implement adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area and/or functions .

**Communication and Influence:**Communicates typically with internal contacts, including participating in benchmarking other business units.
Obtains and provides technical information on matters of significant importance to one or more job areas.

**Leadership and Talent Management:**May act as a team leader or coach and assistant to the supervisor / manager.
May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product and processes.
Does not have formal management responsibilities, but provides input to people management decisions in this area.

**Required Knowledge and Experience:**Requires specialized expertise of systems, techniques, tools and procedures typically obtained through prior related work experience, training, and/or education. Requires 7+ years of relevant technical experience, which may include a combination of practical experience and applicable training, education, or certification. No minimum education requirement. Some countries/ jobs may require vocational training and/or certification.
