What they need
- We are seeking a Technical Writer responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that communicates complex technical concepts related to our autonomous surface vessels
- This requires strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members to produce high-quality documentation throughout the product development process
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements
- Create and maintain technical maintenance documentation, including service manuals, work instructions, service support, etc
- Build writing processes and strategies with an eye to scale
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation that is easy for end-users to understand
- Ensure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices, as well as any relevant DoD regulations and guidelines
- Review and edit documentation for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, ensuring that it meets the needs of our target audience
- Plan, track, and coordinate documentation projects across necessary teams to meet deadlines
- Continuously update and improve existing documentation based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teams- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively
- Familiarity with docs as code, markdown content formatting, Javascript, CSS, and Nunjucks templating a plus
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to work independently and take initiative when needed
- Familiarity with DoD standards and regulations related to technical documentation is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-driven environment or within the defense industry
- Proficient with version control systems and front-end development
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Engineering, or a related field
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Experience documenting complex hardware and software platforms is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Candidate open to travel is a plus
- If this role is based in the United States, it requires access to export-controlled information or items that require “U.S. Person” status.
