Job Summary

The Automation Technician is responsible for supporting, maintaining and troubleshooting automated production machinery and equipment to ensure smooth, safe and efficient manufacturing operations. The role supports the Automation Engineering team in machine maintenance, improvement, installation and automation-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated production machinery and equipment.
2. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and automation-related machine problems.
3. Attend to machine breakdowns and carry out necessary repairs to minimise production downtime.
4. Assist Automation Engineers in the installation, setup, testing and commissioning of automation equipment and machinery.
5. Perform troubleshooting and basic checking of PLC systems, sensors, relays, motors, inverters, controllers, switches and other electrical components.
6. Carry out wiring, replacement and installation of electrical and automation components when required.
7. Monitor machine performance and identify abnormalities or potential equipment failures.
8. Assist in machine modification and improvement projects to increase productivity, efficiency, quality and safety.
9. Support production teams in resolving technical and automation-related issues.
10. Conduct routine inspections and ensure machines are operating according to required specifications.
11. Maintain proper maintenance, breakdown, repair and spare-parts records.
12. Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety requirements, 5S practices and quality standards.
13. Assist external contractors or suppliers during installation, servicing or upgrading of automation equipment.
14. Perform any other automation or technical duties assigned by the immediate superior or Management.

Requirements

• Minimum SKM Level 3 or above in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial Automation or other related technical fields.
• Fresh graduates with SKM Level 3 and above are encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of PLC, electrical wiring, sensors, motors, inverters and pneumatic systems.
• Basic understanding of automated machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Able to read basic electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Able to use electrical measuring instruments and basic maintenance tools.
• Knowledge of machine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance will be an added advantage.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.
• Willing to work shifts and overtime when required.
• Hands-on, responsible and willing to learn.
• Able to work independently and as part of the Automation Engineering team.
